MattTheLegoman : (22 May 2013 - 10:07 AM) Well, it is always kinda awkward when people serve you some roast at dinner. ;p
Radspakr : (22 May 2013 - 02:57 PM) I wish someone would serve me some roast for dinner, I haven't had a good roast meal in years
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 04:56 PM) MTL, you are a vegetarian Christian. Not really the best combination in this company.
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 04:57 PM) Genuine question: why do you believe in God?
The Best Guest : (22 May 2013 - 05:21 PM) Annndddd Do you believe that the creators and gods of all faiths are the same and its just how we humans intrepret them? Thats how i see it haha
The Best Guest : (22 May 2013 - 05:25 PM) I'm probably not a very good catholic because of that :p
Radspakr : (22 May 2013 - 05:47 PM) sometimes i do miss the religious flame war/debates we used to have, so lively
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 07:19 PM) No, I don't believe in Gods of any sorts, but that religion, or the tentatively-named 'faith', is chosen by whomsoever it suits best. It's the cover evil uses to explain away its atrocities, or the excuse men use to defend their actions. Thus, I realized not too long ago, religion is the path of the self-deceiving, not the redeemed.
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 07:23 PM) I apologize to any religious strong believers who take offence, that is just my perceiving of it, and that is why I'm so fascinated about why people believe in deities, and what that says about them.
{IP}Pasidon : (22 May 2013 - 07:48 PM) I haven't seen an apology at Revora in years...
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 08:01 PM) On a side note, anyone know how to deal with love depression?
Irenė Hawnetyne : (22 May 2013 - 08:29 PM) Also, it was more of a disclaimer than an apology :p
Radspakr : (22 May 2013 - 08:40 PM) masturbation and alcohol
Mathijs : (22 May 2013 - 08:51 PM) Irene, I agree with your general attitude, but I think religion is only used as a 'cover evil' by the cleverest of fools. Most religious folk simply cannot deal with the 'unknown' and the great questions (most of which are irrelevant). It's a psychological reflex, a coping mechanism.
Mathijs : (22 May 2013 - 08:52 PM) Oh, and the best way to deal with love-related depression is to find someone else to fall in love with. Rinse and repeat.
MattTheLegoman : (23 May 2013 - 12:15 AM) Rinse and repeat and chase the wind till it all becomes meaningless. As another point ethanol is used as a type of euthanasia for animals that don't find a mate.
MattTheLegoman : (23 May 2013 - 12:22 AM) Don't do it Irene! ;p Love of that sort isn't the only thing good and worthy in this world.
MattTheLegoman : (23 May 2013 - 12:32 AM) I know God is real. I find Him when I selflessly serve others and when I create things of sad or joyous beauty. When you say you hate religions or you hate God, you are not saying anything new or profound. On other worldviews: I don't think you need to know God’s name to have part of Him in you and to do the right thing, and love mercy, to be humble and loving.
{IP}Pasidon : (23 May 2013 - 12:37 AM) I replaced the words "God" with "Burger King" and "Love" with "Chicken Fries".  All of a sudden, this conversation is neat.
MattTheLegoman : (23 May 2013 - 01:00 AM) Pasy! ;p Then as Mathijs said, that is your coping mechanism, but incomplete. Mathijs left out something, and that is hope.
