Where have you put the file exactly? And did you remove the original file?

"C:\Users\Carla\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth II Files" and then i created a new short cut on my desktop... i opened up properties on
the short cut and then i added this to the target "-mod "C:\Users\Carla\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth II Files\X"
And then i pressed apply and ok and then i pressed the short cut and Load Screen>Nothing>Other LoadScreen> Nothing>Black screen where usally says
EA>Page brought down saying game data isnt being read... or something... the EA symbol on the black screen never comes up like it normally does...

Okay, so you posted the same time I did.. Anyways I have your solution
Keep the original INI.big in the main BFME2 folder. Keep it there always There is a file in there called gamedata.ini that we simply can't include in mods, because it won't work correctly. So when you remove the original INI.big, it will crash because most files directs to gamedata.ini, which aren't getting read if it's in a mod.
Any changes you do in your mod folder will overwrite the game while you play it, so you don't have to worry about your mod and the original INI.big mixing up
You cannot change the gamedata.ini however, just take note of that
Rename what, the INI.big?when ever I extract the ini and rename it and all and put it in bfme 2 files... And I make a new short cut and all... But when I go and play it goes like this: load screen, nothing, load screen, black screen, page brought down and game data not read... So the EA sign and video and stuff don't ever come I haven't even edited anything....
Put it in "My Battle for Middle-earth II Files" (where mods usually go), or "The Battle for Middle-earth II" (where the game is installed)?
If you put it where mods usually go, can you tell us what you have in the "Target" for the shortcut? (Right-click on the shortcut, the Properties at the bottom)
Also, if you have made it a mod, and placed it where mods usually go, did you remove the INI.big in the folder where the game is installed?
If you did that, it's no wonder the errors shows up. Because mods can't use a file called gamedata.ini, so that is not read by the game which makes it crash.
There's two options:
1. Either make a mod .big file, with your stuff in it, but keep INI.big in the folder where the game is installed like it is suppose to be.
2. Extract the INI.big to the folder where the game is installed (somwhere\somwhere\somewhere\The Battle for Middle-earth II... do NOT extract it in the Data folder inside BFME2's folder, it will go there by itself )
Then after you have extracted it, check to see if it's acctually there... Go inside BFME2\Data and see if there's a ini folder. If there is, you've done it correct. Now go to the BFME2 folder again, and move the INI.big to another place (out of the BFME2 folder.. You can delete it if you want, but it's good to keep in case somethings go wrong, so you don't have to reinstall the game)
Now see if it works. If the game runs after nr. 2, you can mod the files because it works

Yes, that's normalI am a little confused... My battle for middle earth is installed here: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth II"
No you don't. You can do as Imdrar says and make your mod folder in "C:\Mymod", which makes it easier for you to access every time you're going to mod, or you can simply keep it where you have it in "C:\Users\Carla\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth™ II Files\X"Do i make a new folder here?
You extract it into the mod folder you made (you called it X earlier). So, inside the X folder there should be a Data folder, inside that a ini folder, and so on..and when i extract the ini where do i put it? do i extract it to here? "C:\Users\Carla\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth™ II Files" or what?
Here, I'll give you a fast step by step tut:
1. You open INI.big (that is in your main BFME2 installed folder)
2. You extract INI.big to a folder you have made for your mod. (C:\MyMod)
3. Now leave the INI.big alone in your main BFME2 installed folder
4. Find find your mod in C:\MyMod, and see if there's a folder there called Data. Open that and you should see a folder called ini. Open that and you should see a lot of ini files and 4-5 folders with various names. If you can see that, you've extracted it correctly.
5. Make a shortcut for the game, and add to the Target spot: -mod "C:\MyMod"
Basically, you've done it correctly from the start. The only thing you did wrong was to remove the INI.big from your BFME2 installed folder. It should NEVER be removed from there

I am trying to switch elronds animations with ins bfme 1 animations but it isn't working....... I got the codes done but when I go to game and buy him and all he comes out but he is invisible and only shows his health bar.... How can I fix this? I am not an expert at all at this stuff.... I need his bow animation so he can switch and so on..... Plz help.....
Have you appended his BFME 1 model and textures to your BFME 2 mod folder and asset.dat? Otherwise you have coded your Elrond with non-existent content.

I find it much less time consuming to extract all of the graphics folders (with FinalBIG) into a folder like "BFME2 Art" or "BFME1 W3D" to allow myself to use the computer's file search (just a bit of advice)
Fun Fact: Elrond uses the same textures in BFME1 and BFME2. (at least in the "ru" compiledtextures folder).
