I am proud to announce the 16th Faction for Lone Wolf.

Mirkwood

This was decided by the FMG poll and most of you probably guessed it.

Mirkwood will be released after the official release of Lone Wolf just like Arnor.

Mirkwood:
In the Forests of Mirkwood are many dangers with Dol Guldur in the south of the woods corrupting and filling the woods with evil creatures.
In the north of Mirkwood are the Elves of Mirkwood, which have lived in Mirkwood for ages since the forests were called Greenwood the Great.
The Elves are led by the Elven King Thranduil who is the father of Legolas.
The elves live near the mountains of Mirkwood some live in the tunnels of the Elven King others in towns nearby.
They have come under attack from the evils of Dol Guldur of late.
The whole of Middle-Earth goes to war the Elves of Mirkwood will too,for the defence of their forests and for the overthrow of Sauron.

The Mirkwood Elves are used to the many perils of the woods being skilled hunters and woodsmen.
Silently they slay the Orcs,Trolls,Spiders and other Evils that come too far north.
Rumours have reached Thranduil of an imminent attack on the Elves.
So now they must prepare for war place their harps down and their bows up.

Mirkwood's Role:
Mirkwood's role in the great scheme of Lone Wolf are to counter Dol Guldur.
Their Faction Attribute is Agility with Intelligence as a secondary.
They will be stealth specialists and capable of melee combat with their superb Spear skills.
Obviously Lorien will play a similar role in battle so what's the difference between the 2?

Lorien are the ultimate in Archer factions with great range and stealth and being fast on their feet.
Mirkwood are also skilled in stealth and archery, however the Mirkwood Elves tend to be more cautious and take their time.
Their archers will have greater damage but slower rate of fire they will great stealth but move slower in order to step lighter.
Mirkwood's long history of war against Dol Guldur means they have become specialists at taking down the various beasts that come from the Southern forests.
Mirkwood's units do greater damage than normal against Monsters like Trolls,Spiders and Wargs.

What of Thranduil?:
Thranduil and Legolas along with the Mirkwood Hall and Mirkwood units will all go to Mirkwood.
At the moment I have no plans to replace these units for Lorien as they are often superfluous units.

What will Lorien Lose?:
Avari Longbows
Mirkwood Hall
Thranduil
Legolas
Mirkwood Hunters
Mirkwood Spears
Mirkwood Sentry
Mirkwood Shadow

Castles,Camps and Outposts:
Mirkwood's Econ building will be the Mirkwood Vinyard and Mirkwood Hunter's Lodging
Their Camp will have 6 plots, sentry tower plots and vegetation
Their Castle will have Treehouse plots, vegetation and other defence plots.

I have some more but they have to be scanned in

Progress so far:

Coding:around 60% - most units are coded, heroes and about half of their abilities are coded, the spell book is mostly coded with fine tuning to be done
Art:around 40% - luckily this faction has had some of it's art done for Lorien which should save me sometime.
Bases:50% still some work to do but the basics are done

OK to coincide with the latest update.
I will post up a few details about Aegalen.

Aegalen is the captain of the guard that defends Mirkwood he is a courageous warrior who fights on the front line with his men.
As such he is both strong and wise.

In game he plays a combination of a Tank a support hero and a raider hero.
He has pretty decent starting health and decent armour.
Second he has 2 leadership abilities
The first boost attack and armour of nearby Mirkwood infantry units.
The second provides fear and knockback immunity to nearby units.
To aid him in raiding he has the Pursuit ability which boosts his run speed and armour for a short time to either allow him to charge into battle or survive a losing one.
On top of this he has Destined Javelin a strong ranged attack that is great in attacking a target before charging in.
Finally he has Avenge the King an ability that gives him a attack and armour boost when Thranduil has died.
Avenge the King grants Aegalen double attack,80% armour boost and a 30% run speed boost.

Aegalen's starting stats

Cost- 1600
Health- starts at 1500
Armour-Tough Hero (like Gimli's)
Run speed - normal

Aegalen is a pretty cool and fun character and is my favourite for Mirkwood.

In case you missed the update head here
