Today is a great day in the history of Revora. As you might have noticed...

...we have a new website on http://revora.net :shiftee2:

What is new?
- It looks better...loads better
- The frontpage is now more than news. It includes vital information about Revora for new visitors, including a cool division showcase. Also displayed are a summary of recent news, the contents of the latest magazine, a quote of the day and other bits of information.
- The about pages describe our network, staff, technology and history in a way that is fun and easy to read.
- The magazine now has it's own special section.
- A new forum skin is made (Revora 2009) which better integrates the forum with the site. It really feels like the forum is part of the site now.

Credits and Thanks
This new website was not made possible by one person. We'd like to really thank:
- WhatFace and ShadySaiyan for the awesome graphics. We couldn't have done it without you!
- Jeeves, Litso and others for the important feedback on the design and content.
- Ash and Hostile for their textual contributions.
- Myself, for developing the code and overseeing the project.
- Dark Lord of the Sith, for being my valued co-leader.

What to do
Check out the new site, try the new forum skin and submit quotes for the quote of the day in the our quote topic. :p
And of course, post your comments, positive and negative, right here!

Wow! I was surprised to get on here and see a change. I have three comments about the new stuff.

1. My typing line is off. When I type, the little line keeps bouncing behind the letter before the one I just typed or erased, but it will stil type in the right order; it does make the typing slower, though.

2. It may be just me, but this type of text is kind of disturbing. Maybe I just have to get used to it. :shiftee2:

3. The edit button's options are too far below where they should be. Instead of being right below the edit button, they are too far down.

Thanks for hearing my complaints!

I grumble because I got autoswitched to the new theme. Though that's probably because I likely was set to "Default" when you guys killed RevIt a while ago. Still I grumble.

It does look nice, though. Though to be honest I saw no need for a redesign.

1. Get a real browser :shiftee2:
2. Are you sure it's 8? That's how it looks in 7, not in 8, when I tested

It's definately IE8 I just installed it again with the same end result. I was using FF for while but it takes too long to load. I'm not sure why it would work on yours but not mine. Odd...

Perhaps you two have it set to different ways of handling compatibility modes or something. I don't use IE, so I'm not entirely sure about any of it. I just know that IE is now into weird compatibility shit because of it's past mistakes.

That was exactly what it was. I changed the compatibility mode and everything is fine now. Thanks for pointing that out.

That looks like IE7 Hostile. I've just checked IE8 on my PC and the GUI is different to the one in your screen.

Anyway, it looks awesome.

Couple of things - the info box really should have cool jquery show/hide effect, instead of re-loading the page.
The text next to the magazine logo should be left-justified.

Now that you mention it, it does indeed look like the compatibility button is on

Maybe in the next version, but is it really worth it? Excluding the first time when you're "experimenting", the general use case is that you only hide the box once in your life :shiftee2:

The text next to the magazine logo should be left-justified.

It is :p

I love the Network tab at the top. I think that's very neatly done, well done to Whatface for the art and to whoever did all the coding and whatever for it to work like that. :shiftee2:
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

I think it will be a big improvement when polished a little; as it is now I find two things rather annoying:

  • The typeface used for normal text is too 'thin'; on my comp it shows up as 'Tahoma' - IMO using a typeface like 'Verdana' would give a more pleasant and readable look, with a better balance between the text and the background.
  • For some reason scrolling is rather 'jumpy' - as soon as I go to The 3rd Age this 'jumpiness' disappears.
... otherwise nice work. :p

P.S.: when typing or editing a post, the cursor is always one step behind :shiftee2:

Ok I changed the font to Verdana. Turns out that's what it was developed for all along, because I don't have Tahoma on my system. I always saw the Verdana version :shiftee2:

Everything is nice,except:

-the lowest part, where there are the same stuff as on the upper bar of the website. Those stuff are pretty useless, and it makes the website look too heavy.
-the ads. There are enough on the forums, why do we also need on the website?
-leave it be,like,4 newsposts instead of 5.

These are small details, yet as lighter it looks, the more attracted will a visitor be.

Also,IIRC the EA CnC website looked pretty similar.Didn't visit it in a while.

Other than that, the website looks pretty cool :shiftee2:
