This thread is for casual discussions about red alert 2

 

First of all why westwood thought that making the allies with no anti armor infantry was a good idea?

The only thing close to a Allied anti-armor infantry in vanilla RA 2 was the Chrono Legionaire since they were the only unit that could defeat the Apocalypse Tank 1 on 1.

If i remember correcly rocketeers couldnt also do considerable damage to tanks?2-3 could take out a building relatevly fast

Brutes were too easy to counter in vanilla and their health wasn't that much that even a couple of Seals could wipe them out

Seems like i was proven wrong again,why was the tank destroyer bad in YR?

Atleast open red alert gave the thief's ability to the allied infilitrator which can atleast disquise

Seems like i was proven wrong again,why was the tank destroyer bad in YR?

 

 

 

Not sure if you suck on interpretation or basic english, but it´s saying that Brutes are a bad version of the Tank Destroyer, not that Tank Destroyers were bad. Brutes damage was mediocre, easily killed by low tier anti infantry and were easy to kite. Without counting the high price. 

 

 

Brutes were too easy to counter in vanilla and their health wasn't that much that even a couple of Seals could wipe them out

 

It´s not like a single SEAL can´t kill a horde of infantry alone, right :p

Tank Destroyers are also on that list iirc. Also Tank Destroyers were useless in RA2 due to having no turret, low turningrate, and overspecialized. The sole reason the Brute is even worse is because the TD atleast has range.

Until YR, Tank Destroyers were pretty useful, since they could take out an Apocalypse Tank one-on-one (or almost could, not sure now). But once Allies got Guardian GIs...

Don't forget how the Mirage Tank can do the same thing as the TD could and was also omnifire and a tree. :p

I have realized that most units in red alert 2 YR (especialy in generals ZH) die extremely fast unless its some sort of mamoth tank.In short If your name isnt apocalypse tank then you would die faster than an infantry to a dragon tank with black napalm.So most units in that game were either destroyers of every unit (Mirage tank) or if you chrono shift that in his construction yard you won (Prism tank).

And some are completely useless (anti infantry mine layer RA)

I used to rush tons of Prism Tanks to enemy base and easy victory. Prism Tanks outrange Psychic Towers, Yuri Clones-- *cough*

And not to mention that the AI rarely sends air units like Kirov Airships and Rocketeers to counter the Prism Tank rush.

I don't even know what you meant. What ZH and RA have to do with Ra2?

The issue was to survive to T3 on a game which the "meta" was spamming as many Rhinos early on as possible. >.>

 

But yeah, I agree  that it´s not the best country bonus, but any help till that point is acceptable.

Units in Generals and Zero Hour mostly die because of their turning speed - either of chassis or turret. During changing the direction of move, units are extremely vulnerable thus dying quite fast.
