I was wondering if it is possible, through either scripting or map.ini, to create water which does not act as a barrier to building structures and moving units. Essentially I was hoping to use water as a fog layer across an entire map, and have it not be a physical obstacle. I think this is what Lone Wolf used on a couple of its maps:

Well, for the water, if it's beneath 7 feets it will not affect gameplay. But I guess thats too low..... so you could either create inert objects wich have attached particles as fog (check enshrouding mist object), wich i think it's the best option (because you can have so many advantages, like making the fog show only at times, like in the dawn), or just set the fog level in map ini to something lower so  you have a mist effect in your game.

Weather

  HardwareFogColor = R:40 G:15 B:15

  HardwareFogEnable = Yes

  HardwareFogStart = 1200        - set this to something lower, like 250

  HardwareFogEnd = 1650 ; in feets

The water didn't obstruct the units did it? I thought the impassible terrain did that :p (Might be wrong though, since both tend to be there at the same time :p )

If water is over 7 feets depth, its unpassable.... check how fords are made on maps.
