Hey there

Thanks for your response.

Changing the executable does because he's using a new copy; the original came from Steam. We finally figured out what was causing the problems: his Steam/RA3 installation had been installed to a BitLocker drive which was causing quite a few problems with CNC Online due to leftover registry keys, access to the drive in- and out-of-use and probably another problem here or there. Neither game uninstallation removed their reg keys which didn't help. We'll address this later tonight and post asking for any more help if we need.

We're comfortable working with the registry, so no worries to warn us, but thank you. That was the one we were looking for.

Thanks!

Garry

Hi all

I have been trying to set up C&C Online on my friend's PC recently but we are having some problems getting it to work. He is running Windows 10 with all of the latest updates and have tested all compatibility options, however, when hooking the game he does not get a UAC prompt like I do. The hook does work by causing the C&C Online launcher to appear, however, when trying to unhook, it does not untick the hooking option. After that, the game refuses to load and we have to replace it with a backup copy of the ra3.exe in order for him to run the game as it usually would. Additionally, once hooked, the C&C Online launcher refuses to load RA3 by telling us it was "Unable to load Red Alert 3".

We have both scoured and almost memorised the entire FAQ page and this forum along with others so we've definitely read and tried it all. We're completely stuck now so hoped somebody here may have the answers.

Thanks

Garry

You shouldn't have to do anything with ra3.exe, because the launcher leaves it completely untouched. Did you by chance replace RA3.exe by ra3.exe (lowercase)? That could prevent the launcher from starting RA3.

If your friend can't unhook, ask him to open regedit.exe and delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\RA3.exe. Be very careful not to delete or change anything else though!

If you get this working, please could you post here for the benefit of other users?
