Greetings,

In this guide you will get to know everything that there is regarding the new 4v4 map "Twilit Shores" by Pasidon (mapper) and The Smoking Man (layout designer). This map incorporates and combines both aesthetics and competitive gameplay and is included in RotWk Patch 2.02 v6.0.0.

The layout looks like this:

Where players 1 and 5 are the backup/support players. All players 1,3,4 and 5,7,8 have instant access to a dock in order to immediately recruit ships. Since the central island is surrounded by a good chunk of sea, farm space is scarce thus each of the front players 2,6 have instant access to an outpost (as they are most likely to be under maximum pressure).

As it can be seen, neither one of the outposts (nor the docks) can be captured by someone else, at most they can be destroyed by the enemy. Near each of the two outposts, there is a Drake lair for Untamed Allegiance.

There are four smaller isles at the corners, where the top right and bottom left isles contain an outpost protected by a troll lair. The top left and bottom right isles contain an inn protected by two lesser lairs, plus a treasure chest worth 500 resources!

With the newest change in patch 2.02 v5.1.0, transport ships grant 10 resources each six seconds. Since the back 3 players on each side have instant access to a dock, this opens a plethora of possible starts and build strategies.

There are also two signal fires in the central island, providing vision over the main 2 bridge passages:

>>>> Tips:

1. Farm space on the central island will quickly become limited, thus it is imperative to protect the outposts controlled by the front players 2 and 6. This task is mainly the player's 3 and 8 responsibility. Also, to maintain a stable flow of resource generation, it is very recommended to build transport ships as they quickly recover their original purchase cost within 2 minutes. Of course you will also need naval ships to protect your transport ships which will add a whole new layer to the gameplay on this map.

2. This map, unlike most others highly depend on how well your team has planned their start orders beforehand. Not every setup may be optimal on this map. You may want to plan whether you are going for quick transport ships (sea domination), or that you want to quickly send Pikemen to the isles containing the outposts to capture them, or even rush a builder to the isles containing the inns to quickly capture those treasure chests. In what order and how you want to start greatly varies so you have to think critically.

On each isle containing an inn, there is a treasure chest worth 500 resources!

3. Based on whether you want to capture the Drake lairs using UA, or that you want to get rid of them so that the enemy can't use them, you may want to build early naval ships to protect or destroy the lairs.

4. Bombard ships, if well protected can be very annoying on this map.

Note: This map will receive updates over time, so make sure you let us know in which areas we can improve it.

To battle!
