Het Phoenix, speaking about models, i just saw this on the EAW site

http://empireatwar.f...odel_Pack;83074

----> Lord X's SSD Model Pack (V1)

Nice. Yeah, I really need to talk to EvilleJedi about some things, because those are all models that I don't have, save for the Vengeance. I've just been waiting until there's a solid release so he doesn't think the mod's a waste of time .

Did it ever stop being a code name?

I don't really remember....

Hm, I don't either... but I guess if the capitol didn't move and it became public knowledge, then there isn't much use for a codename.

I hope this isn't a silly question, but the screenshots in the original post show a new map with new planets, however I can't seem to access this. I have the mod installed and can play it no problems but there are no new maps in the GC menu. Is this because the final version isn't released yet?

Not that silly. I ask silly questions all the time!
If you check back in the forum news (phoenix turns one), Phoenix has answered this question (but we threw in a few more afterwards) - it's in the next release. (Cue - Dribble with anticipation)

142 planets. Yes, 142 planets.

How many of the 142 planets (subtracting the 55 vanilla ones of course) have you already finished (creating the space and ground maps and such)?

They're mostly all finished except for the historical descriptions, which I figure aren't urgent (tactical/advantage descriptions are completed however). I'm not doing new maps for any of them because that's just way too much work; I'm going to have to get some mappers from the community to fill them in if they like the mod. You don't really notice that maps are recycled two or three times in such a large galaxy, but it would be nice to have some of the major trade route planets mapped out. If you've played any good custom maps either from another mod or individually, please, if you want to help me out, find out the author and let them know that PR needs mappers. I know AoSW just folded, so perhaps some of their former team members would be willing, I don't know. I just can't do this part alone.

Sure, I would be happy to help in any way I can. Unfortunately, I haven't played many mods; in fact, your's was the second mod I've ever played (z3r0x's being the first). In other words, I'll play some of the maps from different mods to see if I can find a talented mapper.

So for now, you're going to recyle maps for different planets?

EDIT: Speaking of z3r0x, have you tried contacting him for help? The maps in his mod are fairly good.

Yeah.

From what I understand, he's on exodus from the community (his own mod even).

No, it's cool. I'm not asking all the fans to take up mapping to complete this mod. I just don't have a whole lot of time to check out what else's out there and who's a good mapper, but I'm sure some of you guys have. It's not urgent, just if you see something that's good, if you could send the author my way, it would be appreciated.

i used to map all the time and i did a lot of successful maps on starcraft and warcraft 3, if you can direct me to how i can find an editor ill be willing to send you a sample map of my work and see if you like it or not. ive never mapped eaw before but i have done a lot of games and i have an eye for detail and land dynamics.

i used to do a lot of canonical lotr stuff (yes im that much of a nerd), so i certainly have experience in researching what im doing.

Actually Phoenix, z3r0x has just returned from his absence (having been busy IRL)..

How about you post a list of planets that dont have their own maps, so any budding mod supporters who do want to have a go at mapping can try and then send them to you?

I know that if i had time i would be willing to do some mapping for you (unfortunately time isnt something i have to spare at the moment).

Oh, my mistake.

I guess I would prefer to work with people on them rather than just saying "here's a list, go nuts." There are definitely certain nuances that I want to see in some maps, visual tie-ins to advantages, for example. Plus if everything goes through me, I can check maps out as people commit to them.

I dunno, I've had a help wanted posted on ModDB for a few months now with no results, so I don't expect a list somewhere to produce anything different.

Don't be so sure, sometimes an active forum can help out a lot.

That's probably true. I'm not trying to discourage anyone, but if you're really serious about mapping, I think the best way to do it is to PM me.
