The Rebel Alliance could not have defeated the Empire without the help of the Mon Calamari; their influence is apparent in everything from aesthetics to uniforms. With the addition of the Valiant-class MC40 Light Cruiser to the mod, Mon Calamari designs now dominate the starting lineup of the four largest classes in the Rebel tree.
The Valiant-class is one of the original brand of luxury liner-turned-cruisers that formed the backbone of the early Alliance Fleet and as such, it is not a true warship design. Its retrofitted armament of 12 turbolasers and 12 turboions is especially weak for its size, but what it lacks in firepower, it makes up for in shielding. Per Mon Calamari philosophy, the Valiant foregoes its ability to overpower its weapons systems for redundant shield generators, which makes it a tough ship to crack, even under concentrated fire. While designated a light cruiser, the ship also operates as a carrier, able to transport two squadrons. Further upgrades can add its characteristic port and starboard heavy concussion missile launchers to better protect against starfighter strafing runs.
While on the topic of Rebel ships, both the DP20 Gunship and the GR-75 Medium Transport have received new models, replacing the ones from EaW with more detailed depictions, complete with accurate firing bones. The GR-75 especially could have been taken straight from Empire Strikes Back.
Stick around; not every new unit has been announced yet...

Yeah, I actually started this model way back in January, but its curviness threw me off, so I just recently finished rigging it. It's one thing to do an angular star destroyer, but the organic look is just different. For one, you start with a box or a cylinder for the collision mesh for most ships, but for something like this, you have to use a sphere and rescale it. Another issue was that some sources said that the guns on the MCS ships were in the blisters, but it just didn't make sense to rig them this way - too much chaos and poor firing arcs - so I circled them around the center of the ship like Petroglyph did. But yeah, it's definitely a classic and one I've been waiting to put in the game for a while now.
While I'm on the topic, the name wasn't an easy pick either. There really isn't one ship that stands out for the MC40 as being exceptional, such as the Liberty and Independence do for the other two. I ultimately decided to go with Valiant-class because it fit well into the virtuous theme of the original luxury liners. As far as why I go with the classes instead of just leaving the names as is, well, I agree with Saxton's assessment that the MC numbers are descriptive of tonnage and are thus not unique qualifiers. And I also went with MC120 for the Home One-type because it fit the pattern... 40, 80, x. So you end up with three basic liner types, all of vastly different size, sharing a central naming theme.

Oh I meant hosting... not other mods. That shouldn't be happening. Which mods are you talking about? Keep in mind, I'm using Warlords models, so those are not my own, but the rigs are. If you go in the ALO Viewer and turn on bone names, it will say if it's from PR.

Haven't been around in a while (comp kinda went 'splody) but this looks good, so huzzah for you Phoenix.
It's a nice model too; appropriately non-standard for the Rebels. I remember you talking about that one, how the armament was terrible... Makes me think of the z3r0x one. Annoying as all hell. Complete powerhouse of weaponry, but so fragile even fighters could knock it out. Annoying to fight OR use. Had so many weapon hardpoints they overlapped...
Nice to see your version though. Keep up the good work!
