Pirates have no AI. They don't build or rebuild.

I'm sorry I meant the CSA. Do they do anything?

I've got the GFFA load time down to about 2 minutes flat though. I trimmed quite a few units which I'm not happy about, but the lag has decreased dramatically in galactic mode. I noticed that Cronoal's ship was changed to a 1 with much less damage. I switched it with the v1.0 cronoal file and it caused a crash so I'll take a look at that next.

CSA is not in GFFA at all due to stability issues. They are in skirmish, however. (Hardest of the skirmish AI to fight, too.)

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

OMG! PR DIDNT EVEN GET IN THE TOP 100! THAT IS THE BIGGST BULLCRAP ON EARTH!

I basically chose to forfeit - I didn't even post news about it until two days before it ended. Not enough people could see past the performance in GC, so there was no way we could've gone up against the juggernaut communities like HL2. We'll be back next year in earnest.

Well at least UEaW didn't, which I'm surprised at. The fanaticism of the forum members is disturbing, especially considering that the current version hardly adds anything to EaW.

I really never liked how you could vote on hype (unreleased/incomplete) in general for MotY. I think it taints the competition.

You should petition ModDB to remove those types of mods from the vote then.

I can see how some incomplete mods should be added, because even some incomplete ones (i.e. PR)* add so much to a game.

*Though the Space Mode is complete, I personally won't consider PR truly done until Land is fixed and über-vamped.

Or at least separate. (If they aren't already. I don't bother much with ModDB.)

Well, there's a tangible difference between a final release and being done entirely. Version 1.0 was final, but not done. However, as far as I'm aware (and I really didn't waste much time reading about the 2008 iteration), a mod could conceivably win MotY with less than a mini-mod released (a typical RTS mini-mod I mean, with like 2 units) and that just doesn't seem right.

But I'm not going to petition them to change it. It's not my site and it's not worth the effort. It is what it is; so just don't be too sad that we didn't place.

EXACTLY! That Halo Mod for EAW, Super hype surrounding it, but not even a demo for it! They have released a Beta, but not to the public. It's like they think they're getting paid to do this! I think it made it into at least the top 100, but I stopped paying attention to it after i saw PR wasn't up there.

The big irony is that we lost public favor for adding too much content, and that other mods were voted as being better than us that had no content at all. That just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I've spent the past few days going through the mods on EaW Files, and then only mod I've seen that even compares to PR so far is Awakening of the Rebellion. The rest just don't cut it for me.

A lot of people consider having so many ships just eye candy, and ignore the fact that most hold their own unique role in a fleet.

And I think a major part of why PR isn't considered the best by the community at large is because there are no hardpoints, apparently "removing the strategy." (Note that this definitely isn't my opinion.)

Yeah, that's probably a large part of it. Perhaps I should take some videos of me playing at some point, because there definitely still is a lot of micromanagement involved if you want there to be. I think it's interesting how a player can be good at operations, strategy, or tactics and, if they do it well enough, they're able to win either way.

On a similar note, I'm probably going to be pretty quiet in the news for some time as I focus on documentation-related projects that are time-consuming, but offer little to post about. That will likely include a much-anticipated update to the website, although I haven't decided on the extent of it yet. Fortunately Ghost is as busy as ever and will have some more exciting things to post about besides unit descriptions and good/bad againsts.
