Hey. I just downloaded it, expecting this to run seamlessly but I have encountered a problem. I have not idea what it is or how to fix it so I thought I would ask some1 who might know. I have installed the version 0.5. Then installed it and startred the game. It got to main menu, then to solo play menu. I press skirmish and the game froze. I tried again with medium graphics, same thing. I then look on the Dwarf Holds website, download 0.551, install it, start the game, put in on lowest graphics, go into skirmish and the game quits and this pops up.

Exception Acces Violation

The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual
adress for which it does not have the appropriate acces.
Access adress 0x00000008 was read from.

Location:

Version: release

Stack trace:

Address Module Symbol

And then all this weird coding stuff on the right.

If anyone knows what this is, and how to fix it, I would be grateful.

Thanks!

P.S. Hope this is in the right place...

Just tried playing normal skirmish, the game did the same thing as the Exception thing... This sucks. Was working fine before Dwarf Holds. Please let me know what to do. ;)

Interesting - this is honestly the first such error report we've got ;). Ususally if the game quits when you enter Skirmish mode, you need to delete your Skirmish profile (this is an annoying issue with mods that add new factions - basically if your last played game was with an added faction, then you switch to a different mod, that faction no longer exists and the game complains).

To do this, go to the My Battle for Middle-Earth files folder. The easiest way to get to this is by going to Start -> Run -> type "%appdata%". Then in the window that comes up, look for "My Battle for Middle-earth Files". There will be a file called "*yourUserName*SkirmishStats.ini". Delete this file. You might also want to delete "Skirmish.ini" for good measure. This should correct the problem.

If it doesn't help, well, there are other things to try.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

After playing with a new faction switch back to random or a vanilla faction before quiting the game.

You don't have to switch to a normal faction everytime, just if you are planning to play the vanilla game or another mod next time.

I agree that's a very good question actually.  I didn't know the game behaved that way though I have never gotten those kinds of mods to work to begin with always teething issues on installing.  The only mod I ever got to work was the fan 2.0 patch.
