Starting a game not working

Exception Acces Violation
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual
adress for which it does not have the appropriate acces.
Access adress 0x00000008 was read from.
Location:
00c87bb5 game.dat+0x887bb5, StringBase<char>::StringBase<char>=0x55
Version: release

And then all this weird coding stuff on the right.
If anyone knows what this is, and how to fix it, I would be grateful.

To do this, go to the My Battle for Middle-Earth files folder. The easiest way to get to this is by going to Start -> Run -> type "%appdata%". Then in the window that comes up, look for "My Battle for Middle-earth Files". There will be a file called "*yourUserName*SkirmishStats.ini". Delete this file. You might also want to delete "Skirmish.ini" for good measure. This should correct the problem.
If it doesn't help, well, there are other things to try.

I agree that's a very good question actually. I didn't know the game behaved that way though I have never gotten those kinds of mods to work to begin with always teething issues on installing. The only mod I ever got to work was the fan 2.0 patch.
