I got the Empire at War Gold Pack by Steam, and then I downloaded the mod, but I can't get it to work: what are the steps i must follow? I did like this: the game folder for FoC is "C:\Programs\Steam\SteamApps\common\star wars empire at war\corruption", and then i created "C:\Programs\Steam\SteamApps\common\star wars empire at war\corruption\Mods\Phoenix_Rising_v1.1" where i put all the contents from the mod folder i downloaded. Then i changed the target of the filethat links to the mod (I don't know what it's called, however it's not the batch file, it's the other one) from default to ""C:\Programs\Steam\SteamApps\common\star wars empire at war\corruption\swfoc.exe" MODPATH=Mods\Phoenix_Rising_v1.1" and its start in from default to ""C:\Programmi\Steam\SteamApps\common\star wars empire at war\corruption""... But when I click on it it sends me to the original EaW unmodded..
Where am I mistaking?? Please help!!

PR is working on it, gc789, the file structure of the Steam version makes the mod in it's present format not function properly.

Cha-ching. Ghost hit it on the head.

If you wanted to know, you can actually install all the PR files into the FoC directory, and the mod will technically work. The problem is that the AI won't function at all.

Curious if the AI works for any other mods. Has anyone tried?

Thanks!!

It's probably not something that he'll be able to get around to until after the release of v1.2, considering it's recent news to everyone.

Actually, that may not be true. I don't have Steam FoC though and that could be problematic.

Next month I could gift it to you as long as you have an account and such.

Thank you, but that shouldn't be necessary. I think I know what the issue is, so I really only need someone to double-check it with Steam before the release (once the fix is in place). I guess that's not too problematic... as long as it works.

Great! Could you let me know on this topic about this? You know, I'm really looking forward to playing the mod!

A little update that I found over on the UEaW forums:

It took me a while to figure this out, but its not that hard, and it's pretty easy to switch from one mod to another.
1. Download UEAW
2. Extract the files, and install them to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\star wars Empire at war\corruption\Mods
(Place any mods you have into the Mods folder in this location)
3. Start up Steam, and go to your games library.
4. Righ-Click EAW and select properties.
5. Select Set Launch Options
6. Write sweaw MODPATH=Mods\UEAW_v4 in the blank.
7. Now click Play and choose FoC

when you type sweaw MODPATH=Mods\UEAW_v4 in the launch options, simply replace UEAW_v4 with another folder name from your Mods folder.

I know this is an old topic, but I'll check back periodically if you have any questions or if it doesn't work for you.

Courtesy of a certain "sexyrhodent88". I don't personally have the Steam version, so I can't verify this, but it seems sound.

Obviously, just replace 'UEAW_v4' with 'Phoenix_Rising_1.1' or your own respective PR folder name.

I hope it is that simple, though PR's file structure is probably the most complicated I have ever seen in a mod.

Hey guys. Been following this mod with a lot of interest* and thought I'd register to pass some info on.

I tried the method mentioned above on the 1.1 version of the mod. It seemed to load, and I was also able to run a skirmish.

I however could not test the skirmish for more than a minute or so (this was not a technical fault: had to go and do something else).

I shall try and mess around with some more modes/a longer skirmish later (but not the GFFA GC. That would kill my PC xD) and report back.

Initially, it seems to work though. This made me happy, since I now don't have to wait til 1.2 just to play the thing =D

*Maarek Stele as a hero? And Missileboats? And Canon stats/armaments on all ships? How could I not! I found one other mod that had Gunboats AND Missileboats, but they seemed to spawn from Victory and Imperial class SDs (and above), which I found rather odd.

Last week my Eaw Gold Pack CD actually shattered in my drive. I can't play Phoenix Rising without the CD, but the game is already installed, so I was wondering, will PR run if I get a crack? (so I don't have to go find another CD, they're harder to find than they used to be)

PR will run fine if you get a crack. I've done it before.

Warez aside...

yeah, tried the tip from here. didnt work

Unfortunately, this is currently the only fix I've seen for installing PR, or other mods for that matter, on a Steam copy of the game. In time, PR may be able to craft a direct install that may overwrite FoC files. Also unfortunately, that will lead to requiring you to back up the game files in case you wanted to play vanilla FoC or other FoC mods.

EDIT: I even did a search on the Steam forum for such a thing. The same thing came up there:
http://forums.steamp...39#post15196739

J33v3s
Right click on the game in steam
modpath is the path to the mod from where the main .exe file is
(in this case mods\"mod name")
For example, you have a mod for forces of corruption called super_dooper_sumos, the folder that all the mod files are in is called "super_dooper_sumos_mos". So what you would type into the launch properties in steam would be:
swfoc MODPATH=Mods\super_dooper_sumos_mod

Incidentally, if you do these steps, then run the game from the desktop short cut, it'll still work, and should still give you the "which game do you want to run" box.

http://forums.steamp...53#post20596259

SwiftBlizz
Put this in your launch options in the properties for EaW in your library.
Code:

swfoc MODPATH=Mods\the name of the mod folder in "\steamapps\common\star wars empire at war\corruption\Mods"

I have a mod with a folder name of "IVMOD10.3BETA".
So in my launch options I type
Code:
swfoc MODPATH=Mods\IVMOD10.3BETA

An alternative is to go into your steam/steamapps/ folder and delete the .ncf files related to the gold pack. Then you can freely replace the FoC exe with a cracked one, and then you essentially have a retail copy of the game. I am not 100% sure if this will work, but I've managed to do it with Civ IV so my brother and I could have LAN matches. I am hesitant to suggest cracks, but when it is the only way to get the full gaming experience from the Steam version, and you've still paid for the game, I don't feel too bad about it.

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!

A bit of a necro, but thought I'd mention that the Steam workaround worked for me as well.
