I assume he means the split between the fighter factory and Golan, in which case yes, it has been implemented and makes for an interesting dynamic.

That is what I meant, sorry I wasn't more clear. God, all this is doing is making the wait more difficult...

Can we expect any more news updates, or will the next post in the news forum be the one everyone wants to see?

Further update: I'm playing the basic Core Worlds campaign - and every battle feels epic. A Simple fight, involving nothing more than light frigates and cruisers, took two hours. My capital (I've already designated capitals based on sheer performance in battle) nearly went down, at which point I had to pull it out of the firing line whilst diverting extra armour between it and the armada of pirates. It's brilliant fun. Can't wait until the proper capitals come into play!

You sir, are a glutton for punishment :)

I just finished that campaign as the Empire and it took me two days without the modification you mentioned previously. I'm also extremely eager to take a crack at the new version. More so than the mod that actually led me to Phoenix Rising in a roundabout fashion. Have to admit I find the current naval battles surprisingly satisfying. Nothing quite like thinking you've got the pirates whooped when in jumps 3 Acclamators and a bloody Praetor with a host of support craft coming in hard on their heels. I say this because I'm typically more of a ground pounder kinda guy, so I'm obviously drooling in anticipation for 1.2 ;)

Til then I'll go back and learn my way around the Rebels who don't often have the Heavy Turbolasers that I oh so enjoy.

Being the old-school Naval fanatic, longing for the days when armour-clad beasts would slog it out for hours on end, I went ahead with my 'increase every hull + shield strength by a factor of 10' plan.

The result is perfect for me, fleet battles take an age, and I find the length of combat allows for much more dynamic and tactical play. I imagine I'll be auto-resolving a lot of battles, but good god is it fun.

Well we have one thing in common. Big gun will solve any problem. Sad that those vessels are almost gone.

Anyway 10x shield and armor that is absolutely crazy! Modded 1.1 in many different ways, but never like that. Battle over Byss would take around (real life) 18 days straight. :evgr:

And just think, when 1.2 arrives, we'll have an AI capable of adequately defending itself for proper large scale campaigns of long guns and super troopers ;)

Not sure if this is worth much... but...

I wanted to get the detailed back-drops and music-files from the mod 'Alliance 4.2' implemented into PR. So, I downloaded the mod, and basically just overwrote the main-game data folder with Alliance's. The galaxy map backdrop has now changed in PR (along with all the tactical map backdrops), but also the campaign I'm playing now runs suspiciously more smoothly. Could the backdrop have anything to do with the framerate?

It might, although, like the planet scale question, it would have to be caused by some type of graphics engine flaw rather than raw performance. It's worth checking, at least.

And while I'm at it... are the Empire's Skipray blastboats supposed to be about 10-time tougher than a T-65 X-Wing? I have 6... and, after a battle that lasted three hours, and after getting chased by an entire horde of rebellion fighters, I didn't lose a single one (I checked the files with the unedited XML's, and I definitely haven't altered the numbers too far).

I hope the answer is yes, so I don't need to feel guilty about their wonderful effectiveness.

Yes, canonical Skiprays are frankly rather overpowered. To kill them you need ion or missile armed ships, preferably of corvette class or larger but other military transports are reasonably effective too.

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!

Maybe not ten times, but certainly a few times. It's a mechanic quirk if it is that much. I hope to address some of those nuances in the future.

Hey, is there any estimated date of release of PR 1.2?

Id rather they simply sit on it until they're ready rather than tell me it's two weeks away and still not see it three months later. It'll get here, when it gets here. Not a moment before, and not a moment after.

Yes, youve hit the nail on the head there. Free Time. PR now has the same committments as the rest of us working people. A job.
Sorry about the delays, but we are steadily getting closer. All the major work has been done, it's just a case of finishing and polishing 2 years of major development work.
You won't believe how long it takes to get screenshots for example. It's unbelievably tedious, and very very slow.
The testers have also generated a mountain of data that needs sifting. Oh for R2!

Hang in there and wait for news. :cool2:

Can we expect any new news updates regarding yet unrevealed features of 1.2, or will the next news post be the one everyone's waiting for?
