Speaking of auto-resolve, is it improved now, for land and space?

As far as I am aware auto-resolve is unchanged. You will take heavier losses with auto-resolve in comparison to actually fighting in tactical mode, and it's a pretty good way to kill your heroes.

However, the AI uses Auto-resolve to determine battles, and therefore builds fleets with an overwhemlming advantage before it initiates battle, thereby taking fewer losses.
If you watch the droid log, AI battles often end up as a Major victory, with minimal losses for the attacking force. I guess it just goes in with a 3:1 or 4:1 advantage.
Certainly when it attacked me, it had that sort of advantage, making for a challenging fight. Good job I remembered to build that planetary Cannon.

Autoreolve just works out the relative strengths of each fleet and then determines the losses by the odds ratio between them. If the odds are close, you get vaped.

However, I don't see why you would want to auto-resolve now. Land is awesome in intesity and space is a better than before.

But you'll be able to see that soon!

I see. The thing is, when we play multiplayer GC, the battles against the neutral forces are all auto-resolved, otherwise one of the players would have to sit around and twiddle his thumbs while the other exterminates pirates.

Would it be possible to look into a multiplayer GC map for 1.3 in which there are no pirates, leading to a fairer competition directly between the two players?

Well, not quite. I redid the PGAICommands script, which is the auto-resolve class comparison matrix, to remove any inherent bias. It may not be readily noticeable, but this took care of most of the weird cases - it still hates hero companies. This was part of the AI project.

11:10-5:4 against Independent, believe it or not. More against the human, with some modulation by difficulty.

Autoreolve just works out the relative strengths of each fleet and then determines the losses by the odds ratio between them. If the odds are close, you get vaped.

Think stack battle in Civ IV, with a little more defending to the death, and the stronger stack always winning (no odds, straight comparison).

If it means anything, it's coming out this year. Sometime in mid to late December if my calender is correct.

Go ahead and circle February.

I'll wait 'till NEXT February if it means a polished, detailed, smooth running game! :)

Don't take anything I say seriously, EVER!

I'm waiting for the manual to come out as when that comes out I think I read that the game would come out a couple days after.

No, they made it pretty clear the Manual will be included in the folder with the release of 1.2 itself, not a seperate download... I think someone suggested they might release it first to whet our collective appetites... I dunno about anyone else but I'd rather they stay focussed on getting us the main event as soon as possible!

Confirmed.

The V1.2 Technical Manual will be released with the Mod. It is after-all an integral part of V1.2.

There's one last crash bug which we think we have isolated. Once PR puts together a release candidate and the QA team do a little testing, it should be done. Can't give a precise ETA I'm afraid, but the next few weeks is a conservative estimate. It may be as short as one week. Depends how the crash bug goes.

Phoenix Rising, head of mapping. Thanks to everyone who got us to the position below!
