I'm actually having the map raining, so that the shininess works. However, I'm having problems with something. Is there any reason why an object which displays perfectly in Worldbuilder would simply not show up in-game?

Quite a few World Builder objects do that.  And there are also objects that don't show up in World Builder, but they show up in game.  I recall a few flags doing that.  They're connected to two different assets... one for editing purposes and the other for in-game.  There may be a way to change this in the ini... not sure.  Never investigated what caused it.

I didn't know that was a common thing, to be honest. Essentially I'm just using a modified version of the old shellmap's code to put it in game, I can't see that that would make any problems? I'll have a go with playing with that.

EDIT: Hmm... that doesn't seem to work either, having replaced the reference to the model file with one I know that works.

When I started putting new things into the game I made them all rocks. That works for things that don't have to be interacted with. =p

You could try to put it in like the vanilla bfme series shell objects?

I like the idea of it raining. It will add to the drearyness of it.

Pretty stuff.

Looking at your map list shouldn't minas tirith be minas anor?

Good point - I think it was shortly after making those lists I did some work on changing a few aspects of the Minas Tirith map to look 'newer' and slightly under construction.

I love what you have done so far, and the fx, that sky could really be a sky texture that is on the map. Minas Anor is formed out of the rock itself? I would love to see more of the shaping of structure out of the 'living rock'. =D

A point is that Minas Anor's outer wall was made of a similar material as Orthanc, and it was impenetrable, the only event that could destroy it was by rending the earth below it. I would imaging that it might have been part of the original landscape.

Seems to me that the outer wall should be there. I'd be curious to see how any fortresses in our world were built. Whether it was from the keep out or the reverse. But I would expect that each level up the mountain would come after the one before.

The way I see it is that cities are built around things, and a good thing to build around is a solid mountain, which inherently closes off one direction of attack, making it a strategic point to build from. I imagine that settlers from Numenor would gather here to regroup originally, perhaps not intending on keeping it as a permanent base, but finding it conveniently close to the Anduin with fertile grounds around, wooden walls forming the boundaries of a refugee town would eventually grow into rings of city walls, gradually ascending the mountain at first rather than widening the more vulnerable areas of wall, then developing outer walls when building on the mountain became too difficult. Construction of cities, as I see it, is organic, and evolves out of necessity (particularly in terms of housing), which is why different styles of building can be particularly prevalent in areas within a larger, older community which has survived multiple architectural generations.

First up, who are the Dûrchîn?

It is interesting that you've created the Éothéod as savage, they are Northmen, like the people of Dale and Esgaroth. Maybe you are implying that the free peoples of Rhovanion where uncultured before Numenorean contact.
