I need someone to code in in for me? ;D

 

I want variation in the Inn system, it can still be simple, but if the buildings can vary from map to map that would be awesome.

 

What I want to see is a map making feature that allows them to decide what Inn units are available on the map. Arnor Rangers, Hobbits, Dwarves of Ered Luin, Druadan, soldiers from the Fiefdom's. That would be cool. ;D

World Builder has remnants of scripting features that relate to the concept of select unit purchasing from select structure types, but they're strangely worded and don't work at all.  I think EA wanted to do something along the lines of your idea, but either World Builder's fragile coding couldn't handle the idea, or they just didn't have the time to figure it out.  I'm not sure anyone here would have the ability to code something like that for World Builder.  

 

But your stuff is still pretty, so who cares.

I'm sure you can disable units. So my idea (I know nothing about coding) for S.E.E.'s Inn function is to have all the units available and then disable them per Inn map.

 

Either that, or it could be achieved with upgrades. For example, the Woody End map grants a unit upgrade to every player - "Location:Shire", which then allows players in the Forces of Light factions to build Hobbits.

Maybe.  It's possible through standard ini to alter building commands, I've seen it myself, but certainly not as a "map making" feature.

I think if you look under fortress maps (ie. Minas Tirith), in the scripting it stops the fortress player from building fortresses, so you may want to look into that. Or just use map.ini to remove the ones you don't want from the commandset.

There's such thing called commandset upgrade; it is used on normal inns. Now im pretty sure you could create through a simple map.ini a variation for each map you want. Just change those commandsets as you desire :D

Thanks for the tips! I will write them down for later, as I'd like to work on other things first - the inn was a ruse! Hahaha...

 

I found the concept art from Michael Zimmerman's website a while ago and I decided to create something from the unused concepts before I revealed the link.

 

My main project has been Umbar buildings, which I am creating in conjunction with an African building set for AoE III. I posted it as a concept in the S.E.E. forums. So check it out there!

It's supposed to be - but I ran into a couple of issues with the rendering of the materials - like the carpet blade... =p This is for a college assignment, but I have every intention on using it in Director's Cut.
