Scripting events/story missions

Does anyone have any ideas on how to script missions or events?

In thinking of things from vanilla GC, where you would get a pop up saying "we have a mission to attack X planet, and then Y person will give us some of Z unit". There were not many of them but they happened occasionally.

Has anyone seen any other mods with similar things I can look at for reference? I might play with adding some if I have time. I have some ideas

Alliance mod do have missions, but it's so unstable I couldn't possibly recommend it for something more than curiosity. Perhaps with version 6.0 it'll clear up, but for now so and so. One thing I can say, it has typical sandbox style of missions. You can perform them when you want (e.g. Capture Coruscant for Reborn Emperor), but it also has Mandatory missions which cannot be ignored and must be played when triggered even if you are on the other side of the galaxy doing more important stuff (e.g. -pair which always crashing for me-: Invasion of Mon Calamari with World Devastators and then after few moments another one to defend disabled WD).
