Well all your posts so far have been like you are yet another of many people who've barged into here to suggest turning MO into their own vision.

 

Mind you i'm not in charge of Mental Omega thats Speeder... :p

My suggestions were pretty minor tweaks which were explained - not stuff like "Add Terminators and Zombie infantry because that would be so cool!!11" (and this thread wasn't even a suggestion). So again why even have a suggestions forum if the mod team takes offense to suggestions for improvement?

I am with Zenothist here. Regardless of motive, Tpspy has already shown the way to perform the edit (see 2nd post). Unfortunately I can't reveal how to unprotect the mix (because I don't know either), so I cannot help you with that.

 

An alternative method is to have a higher numbered mix (e.g. expandmo99.mix), and place your voiceset in them. The RA2 engine reads mixes in order, and the last copy will override the previous 'versions' (this was how MO2.0 works in RA2). XCC Utilities is a set of tools that can help you with that. You might have to ask around (or ask here) for the audio filenames before you begin, unless you want to perform a tiring trial and error game.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to 'mod the mod', although just to tip you off, that has to come via personal effort.

if you are really desperate to change the voice lines, there is a thread on PPM site regarding changing the file headers and binaries of the mix files to unprotect them, but it's a taboo subject and as such I won't post a link to the particular thread. A side note: What exactly where you planning to change regarding the units voice files?

He wanted to remove the Pokemon References from the Hailstorm and the Queen References from the Barracuda.

Where'd I say that? And I'm pretty sure it's the Stormchild which does the Queen references right?

 

Either way this is pretty much a dead horse now since the members gave me the information I needed.

If it's easy enough to do I might also add some stock voices from other C&C games to replace some of the poorer voices currently in the game - or maybe some Latino voices for the Latin Confederation in particular (since most of their units still have Russian voices, or just use stock GLA voices from C&C Generals). Then I might release an "alternative voice pack" as an addon if this is even possible.

That's Barracuda, but Battleship also has queen references.
