Hello,

So theres this problem. I can connect to the multiplayer, I got C&C Online working etc, but I can not connect to any players in the game lobbies. It was the same way with the origin/Gamespy days. I just coudlnt and still can't connect to any players. The problem most likely lies in port forwarding, but heres the thing. I know how to port forward, and I've done it successfully for all the games that needed it. Some plain good examples: Minecraft, Unturned. However, This game just wont cut it, I tried everything, and it still cant connect to majority of players. In very rare cases one player does establish a connection with me.

So, i'm turning to you guys here, probably mainly the programmers/coders of who wrote the C&C: Online client. How does this peer to peer connection work (I know that the client connects to your master server), and what do I need to do, that I havent tried already, because I have tried every single thing that are most commonly suggested to fix this kind of a problem.

Thank you!

EDIT: Huh, noticed I posted this under the Guild section...dont know if thats correct, but feel free to move it

Thread moved to C&C:Online Support.

As to your issue... hmmmm.

In Options (network options? I don't know C&C3 well), does the little dropdown display several IP addresses? Have you added a Firewall exception?

Which port(s) have you forwarded? You only need one (e.g. 16000) and then configure the game to use that as a static port in the network settings. That should work 100%.

@Mathijs

Yes there are two IPs, one is the hamachi one, but i have it put on the default network IP of mine, and I tried uninstalling Hamachi, etc, restarted pc and there was one IP only, and still couildnt connect

@Phil

I opened poort 16000, put it into the port field and no result :/

EDIT: Also, when I open the ports, the game that want ports open, run properly, but when I ping that same port from a port checker website (e.g. canyouseeme) it says the port is closed...

Can you post an image of your router's port forwarding settings and your Options.ini?

Also, what option.ini file?. I looked for it in install dir and in documents/My games and ditn find it

EDIT: Also, i've noticed that previously, when I had minecraft open, and then i played it, it showed that the ports were open, aka they show only open when they are used, well they did that like half a year ago or so, havent tested it anymore, they just work when i forward them.

So which port is it that you're forwarding and using for TW? The 25565 you opened for Minecraft? Also it's normal that the port will show as closed when you're not running the game. A port is only "open" when a program is listening on it. Game not running = no program listening = port closed.

The Options.ini is either in C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\C&C3-something (AppData is a hidden folder) or in C:\Users\NAME\Documents\C&C3-something.

For Tib wars without setting the port in network options:

AlternateMouseSetup = 0
AmbientVolume = 0.000000
AnimationLOD = UltraHigh
AntiAliasingLOD = 0
AudioQualitySetting = High
Brightness = 50
DecalLOD = High
EffectsLOD = UltraHigh
FirewallBehavior = 4
FirewallNeedToRefresh = FALSE
FirewallPortAllocationDelta = 0
FirewallPortOverride = 0
GameSpyIPAddress = 192.168.1.64
HasGotOnline = yes
HasSeenLogoMovies = yes
IdealStaticGameLOD = VeryLow
ModelLOD = High
MovieVolume = 70.000000
MusicVolume = 0.000000
Resolution = 1920 1080
SFXVolume = 70.000000
ScrollFactor = 84
SendDelay = 0
ShaderLOD = UltraHigh
ShadowLOD = UltraHigh
ShowTickerAds = 0
ShowTickerNews = 1
StaticGameLOD = Custom
TerrainLOD = UltraHigh
TextureQualityLOD = High
ToolTipDelay = 0
VoiceVolume = 70.000000
WaterLOD = UltraHigh

EDIT: Also, when i set the port in network options, the game very rarely crashes, and always, when it starts the peer to peer connection process, it freezes for 3-5 seconds and then proceed on trying to "call"

EDIT2: Also, I remember like half a year ago i called my ISP to ask if they do any port calling or mess with anything of sorts in that field, they said definite no + we have very good ISP here.

Also, I will be playing kanes wrath from now, since there are a lot more players than in tib wars

  1. I still don't know which port you've actually forwarded for KW.
  2. No static port is configured in your Options.ini. Either change it in the game's network setting or put the port where it says FirewallPortOverride = 0

I tried it dude, i put the 25565 there, and it showed up in options.ini file, but as i said: "Also, when i set the port in network options, the game very rarely crashes, and always, when it starts the peer to peer connection process, it freezes for 3-5 seconds and then proceed on trying to "call"

I even forwarded specific ports and put them in that field, and it didnt work, e.g 16000

What do you mean by "the game very rarely crashes?" It crashed just from writing the port in the settings?

And when it starts the connection, what do you mean by "and then proceed on trying to "call""?

the crashes happen when it starts the calling process. A calling process is when i go to lobby, and it goes from hourglass icon to the calling icon, its literally a phone icon, so its calling aka trying to establish a connection to other players. So when i have a specific port set in the options - network settings, then theres a 3-5 second freeze when it starts the connection process, sometimes very rarely game crashes.

That's very unusual. Have you tried reinstalling the game?

If you want we could do remote desktop (teamviewer), to see if you could fix this, if you care enough :)
