Red Alert 3 'Connections in Progress...' problem

Best Answer Phil, 20 December 2014 - 09:48 AM

That's exactly what we already do with our own copy of the natneg server. It simply isn't bug-free yet, but it's being worked on.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem running the co-op campaign for Red Alert 3; specifically with the actual launching of the game after entering the lobby. I'm using the steam edition of the game.

I managed to install, with some difficulty, the C&C:Online tool on my computer and that of my friend, and got the game running through the launcher. I had no problems with connecting to the CNC:Online service and hosting a game. My friend has no problems joining.

However, when I press play, I get the error 'Connections are in progress or connection problem detected'. It doesn't seem to matter whether I host the game, or my friend does.

I've already tried deleting the firewall 16000 line on the options.ini file, to no avail.

If anyone has any insight into this problem, I would really appreciate hearing it. I picked up two copies of the game on the last steam sale specifically for co-op, and it would be real shame if they turned out to be duds.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Hello, this is a known issue, the C&C: Online team is already working on it.
However, you should read more carefully the pinned post "Common issues & Solutions"
Because it's provided some temporary solutions which you and your friend can try to do, for example edit the Options.ini and set the PC as DMZ zone.
For a more precise and accurate description of those solutions, please read the pinned post

Thanks for the reply ViperMkVII.

As I pointed out above, I already took the step of modifying my Options.ini file, to no avail. As for the 'DMZ', other people my household use my internet connection, so I would prefer not to muck around with my router, if at all possible.

I did some additional searching last night and discovered that some Civ4 players had accomplished a fix to the NATNEG problem through a modification to the Windows hosts file. (See http://realmsbeyond....ad.php?tid=7123)

Does anyone know whether a similar solution could be effected for RA3?
