Well, I was shown over here by Hostile a short while ago, he asked me to introduce meself... so here I am. Hello. I'm Nertea... for BFME, I make new skins and models. I've done a mod that completely replaces BFME's default skins, etc.

So at any rate, here are some screenshots of some of my newest skins + models: Dwarves! These might end up in a full faction mod eventually, with new buildings etc. I just need to learn how to get them ingame with animation. So, Hostile, how do I do it?

So here are the new units. I've completed four so far. Each unit has multiple skins, up to 6 of them.

Dwarf Warriors (w/ axe and shield) - 6 unique skins

Posted Image

Dwarf Warriors (w/ heavy axe) - 6 skins (identical to above skins)

Posted Image

Dwarves with shortbows - 4 unique skins

Posted Image

Dwarf Elite Khazad Guard - 4 skins

Very nice work. Are these edited models from the game or new?

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |

I believe they are modefied models. I think they look great. Would be nice to take my dwarven hoard and have random skins show up ingame. Coding is already there for that.

About animating, You need to make sure the skeleton is binded to the mesh. If we choose to use other animations like a unit that fires a bow. We have some work to do as the bones from ingame cannot properly be imported and resaved. It's a glitch.

If the animation has the bones renamed to the models skeleton and replaced by traditional bones. Than we'll have a winner.

All based off the Gimli model, with some parts edited/removed/added. Lots of texture areas were remapped too.

So basically what I have to do is create an entirely new skeleton (using bones), I can't just use the skeleton imported from say, the Gimli model? I also don't understand the WWskin binding method, used to more traditional 3ds max skin modifiers

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

If you use coolfiles importer (works for both gmax and 3d max) than it will also import the skeleton. Should make it alot easier. :p Not sure which importer you use but the one on my site is the best.

I just took gimli skeleton and animated it to kick someone in the balls. Worked fine. Exporting it has causes me a problem as the only thing that imports back in is the skeleton not the animation.

So I have alittle research to do, but I should have an answer within a day or so.

Your models are splendid Nertae. I've been dreaming of dwarves like that to add in the dwarven faction i'm trying to do.

If you manage to match animations on them they will be really great.

Maybe none of them are released yet? Anyways, wow those dwarves look really really cool! ^^ But their eyes are funny..they look like the stereotypical japanese or chinese ^^ well I don't get the binding thing either...i'm getting close but errors prevent me from finishing my models.
