i wrote this tutorial the other day for people who just dont get how to model with the existing tutorials, it goes into more depth around the vaguer areas, like slightly editing the model, binding t vertices to bones etc. Anyway, you can see the tutorial here:

Enjoy!

its probably something to do with the asset.dat then, or possibly in the ini file, you added .w3d to the model name...

No i don't think so. See my topic about merging 2 static objects in general forum (Merging 2 models in one with renx).

eRe4s3r kindly tried to help me and even did the merging himself. I can use his perfectly, but mines is invisible, same file, same name, i have even tried to import export his model and it doesn't work. He gave me the model in .gmax, i exported it and it worked, so i guess it is a problem of importing a W3D model but i use the same importer, using the same method, so it looks like kind of weird.

Well, I was having a wicked-awesome time with this tutorial, it really made things a lot easier. Until I got to this part:

Now press this button:

[insert bind to spacewarp button here]

It will be located at the top.

You then have to drag it from the mesh to the WWSkin.

Drag what from the mesh to the WWSkin? A bone? The button? I'm not really understanding the screeny that follows. Blah. Sorry to be all crappy at this, but I'm lost lol.

no problem, when you press the space warp button, it changes the cursor if you highlight over something. essentialy, using that cursor, drag a line from the mesh to the wwskin. just try it a couple of times and youll see what i mean :ninja:

Great, thanks! I'll try it out (which may be a while from now... Gotta redo all my stuff because I gone-done froze the program trying to go without a paddle lol)

UPDATE: Crap. When I go to "Link to Bone by Name", the pop up has no bones in it. >< I did the whole Bone Parametres thinger. Probably incorrectly, but I did it anyway lol.

It's called a common error with a free 3d program. EVERYONE dels with that when binding models. I'm sorry. but save alot along the process. Gmax is unstable (but free) :(

i also try to use the drag thingy from the mesh to the wwskin, but it says it cannot bind; it would create an unstable loop' or something. and when it works i still dont have any bones in my list

i had the same error
select the main mesh, clik on Edit>clone, it will create another mesh named random01.
remove the original one (random) and rename random01 to random. Now it should work

hope that was clear enough :ninja:
