I don't know how to model so I can't help you out there. Also, you might want to clarify what you need:
Can you make the bones but not export them? or do you not know how to make the bones themselves?

well i know how to make bones but i'm just rubbish at it and get confused and frustrated when binding and things like that! i think if i had a basic bone structure for the models and then _skl files, i or my friend would be able to make all the animations just fine. perhaps someone could make the bones for us if i send the W3D files? thanks

The faster would be to add them yourself, if you really don't want to, explain clearly where you need them, or what you want to move and how in your animations.

Well, placing bones is done when you have a precise idea of how to animate your model. You can't just ast someone to "put bones on a model".

Wow, you posted in this old topic!
on topic, thanks, but i think my friend is now able to make bones better but I'm not! *eyes the thread about animating without bones with interest*
