#1100762 Game of thrones

Yea, I really liked the season 8 opening.  But it wasn't the ONLY good thing about season 8.  They didn't do everything wrong.  The burning of the Iron Throne, the fight between the Mountain and Hound, the culling of King's Landing, the general battle for Winterfell... those were great scenes. Most people are complaining that the sudden change of character for Daenerys was a bigger mistake than the Vietnam War, but really, that wasn't a problem for me.  The problem is how it happened.  The writers, Fiddle Dee and Fiddle Dum, approximately spent 2 episodes setting up Daenerys contradicting everything she stood for, for the past 8 years, just because her spare dragon and translator died.  She wasn't even that angry when her first dragon died to the Night King.  They said they "dropped hints at her being crazy" years ago, but subtle clues and actual lapses of true character are two separate things.  They can talk about the gods flipping coins over Targaryens being mad or not all they like, but there needed to be visible progression throughout the show for something like that.  And Jon Snow being a secret Targaryen was even less subtle, and more pointless.

It didn't have to be perfect.  I would have settled for "good."

Was season 5 rushed?  What's their excuse for the past 4 years?  Nah, no excuses for them will work.  They're just awful.

All caught up, and watched the series finale.  Alright then.  Let's have a talk.

I forgot that I spoke like a drooling moron seven years ago.  This topic is ancient... good lord.  Please don't read my old posts.  I used more exclamation points than a woman.

And it's no mystery why shows like this do well, rating-wise, up to the end, then people start cawing like animals about how bad it is when it's too late.  This show was slipping four years ago, but no one gave the writers / directors the criticism they so desperately needed.  I'm getting through season 8 right now (I'm watching episode 4 as I'm writing this, but it hasn't made me care enough to pay attention) and it really is awful.  This season is the very element of what a good show would look like when common people get to take charge and do what they want.  Unfortunately, that's not only what season 8 looks like... that's what it is.

I liked season 4 a bit more when having the ability to watch all the episodes consecutively, and not having to wait every weekend under that painfully slow pacing.  It's just all tragic after that.  About the only thing I liked from season 5 was Stanis Barathian burning his own daughter alive, but after he does that, the show does nothing with it.  This is the point in the show where every single long-term setup they do just falls apart and does nothing.  Like Sir Barristan Selmy?  They set him up to be the greatest fighter in Westros, with hundreds of battles under his belt, and when he actually has a fight 5 and a half seasons into the show... he just gets butchered in an alley.  He doesn't even die in the book at that point, so I dunno what agenda they've been following.

I've been rewatching the series since I quit after season 5 when it first aired.  People told me "no, Pasidon.  The show's not becoming terrible."  Alright then.  I finished season 7 last night, and it was god awful.  I'm looking forward to watching season 8 next week and seeing High Lord Coffee Cup.  First of his name.

Would you prefer China to remain a dynastic tyranny featuring book burning and beheadings?

Jackie Chan has always been funny.  Now that he's old and can't even do a back-flip, that's all he is.

Sorry for the anticipation, Van.  It seems like your project is so old, we currently don't have anyone who can even access that information.  But you should be able to reset your password through WHM.

Yooo, Vanguard.  I'm not sure what this information is that you need, but I'll ask in the Command Center for you if you don't get that access soon.

I wouldn't say the Child's Play reboot is an "instant fail."  They've refrained from actually showing the new Chucky in the trailers, which I'm impressed by that level of restraint.  And Aubry Plaza stars in it, so there is a hint of intelligent casting.  And IT: Chapter 2 should be fine.  Everything else can burn in B-Movie hell.

Oh, sorry.  Was away for awhile.  You should both be good now.  And Sun, someone already had that name actually, so I just changed theirs, but if they request it back... gotta give it back to them.  But they likely won't.

Is that the whole chapter, or are you holding back the rest like a filthy TEASE?  Might as well post the rest.  We've had entire books posted on here before and people read them.

Just make a topic here.  If someone says it's not related to BFME... just spit my name at them.  They deal with this sort of stuff all the time, so one of them is bound to know something.
