Freedom Studios(on PPM) has completed judging for their first voxel competition...the results are in at the PPM Mainpage. The crowning voxel king? MadHQ...for now. There's some controversy of the results, so they may be subject to change. Among the entries are Raminator's spectacular Banana Bomber, which is in dead last. Posted Image

And finally, Tiberian Odysee has shown pictures of a second map made by Titan MkII, TO's Resident cartographer has also revealed the names of two gamemodes that will appear in the 'mod' for TS...

"Infantry War
Abbreviation in map names: [IW]

Infantry war is a small-scale gamemode where you have to use infantry to defeat each other. Vehicles come from crates, or appear by other means. The amount of infantry you can build may be limited to avoid rushing. Basically, It allows for several short, funny games. I've run a few online tests on XWIS and people appearantly like the style of play. It doesn't really get boring.


Capturing Frenzy
Abbreviation in map names: [CF]

This gamemode focusses on capturing objects. Apart from being a very nice gamemode, it also allows you to practice your capturing and sneak skills. In most map, your (initial) construction options are limited; you have resources, just not the required equipment to use them.

Well then, what to do? It's a good idea to look around for abandoned outposts, deserted vehicles, civilian buildings etc. . It is unwise to actually destroy the structures of anopponent, because it leaves you unable to actually benefit from having gained terrain, apart from having destroyed a part of the taskforce of the opponent. I've been on a hitaus, sadly, and the news section seems dry for C&C, so...here goes....

The C&C3 patch is out, guys! 1.05, the long awaited patch is finally at our doorstep. Hopefully this will put to an end the damned awful Scorpion Tank spamathon that TW online is. Go run TW Auto-update and download. Some other features include 4 new MP maps(tired of the old maps, too?), Some graphical tweaks, and another promise that the SDK is on the way. Its coming, people. Keep your pants on.

No Walls, either, guys. (Go spam the Horde forums if you want walls, though.)


On PPM, our lovely affiliate, Summer is sinking in, and with Summer's arrival, new updates on FOUR prominent Yuri's Revenge mods and one TS mod, which promise to make YR and TS...Something MUCH different then what we got from the boxes.

First up...

Fallout Wars:A post-apocalyptic RTS, headed up by IVI-AFV Factory. Based on, you guessed it, Fallout.

IVI is obviously a very talented artist. The cliffs, pavement, buildings, and even that little rock there, are all IVI's work. He has also released quite a lot of voxels for TS in PPM's spotlight voxel forum. Well worth looking into if you need some graphics for your TS mod, or just want to replace a stock unit's GFX.

Remember X-COM:Terror From The Deep? No? neither do I, lol. But Donut Arnold is working on converting YR into X-COM:TFTD, and what would a mod featuring the ocean be without Sea Life? Featured here are two fish, a bottlenose dolphin, and a small shark. This is one mod to watch out for, no? :mellow:

PPM, while not only host to these wonderful mods, also has a blossoming CC3 mapping community growing. Sick of the stock maps? hit up PPM and download a few new ones.

I've coverted Tiberium, We've mentioned TAKTICS' Tunnel fun...but Tyrannosaurs? What does a Tyrannosaurus Rex Osborn Have to do with this? Simple. A Shameless plug...errr...project I am working on. it is early in the brainstorming process. "Jurassic Park Survival". It is not hosted nowhere...but check out this thread for more information. It _will_ die without converters, of course.

All this 'bring back westwood' crap is making my stomach churn.

After a half-assed Tiberian Sun which was CONSTATLY delayed, had tons of promising features cut from it (or, better yet, held for the Expansion Pack so W$ could make more money out of it.), People still want Westwood back.

Westwood and EA are both corporations, Westwood willingly(yes, willingly. Im sorry they werent raped by EA like you all think.) sold itself out for EA's money. Atleast EA GOT Tiberian Sun out. Westwood probably would've delayed it another year or so. :roll:

WTF at Guest. Just because the enviorment is 'constantly' changing doesnt mean animals suddenly disappear in 20 years tops(!?) and are their niches go unfilled(unless GDI has been eliminating these animals). During the Early Cretaceous(after a mass extinction during the Jurassic Period.),Flowers started to evolve, and animal life bounced back. As we get further in the Cretaceous, remains of Jurassic species die off(Sauropods, mostly in south-west United States), as their roles are replaced by new animals. Why were these animals dying off? A rapidly changing enviorment. Sauropods and other Jurassic herbivores probably couldnt digest the new Cretaceous plantlife springing up throughout the northern U.S.(Where we see early Ceratopsians coming in from Asia.), and stayed down in the South West, untill they themselves died off. Extinction isnt a 'poof, gone' process unless its manipulated by man or a catastrophe. The only catastrophe here was for the Sauropods, and the spread of flowering plants over millions of years. Tiberium Floaters dont go 'poof' for no reason without artificial hands in it. Hell, maybe this was only forming in one region of the world. Remember, the CABAL missions only took place in a certain area, and CABAL himself said that these were his 'latest experiments' with the tacitus. They may have been isolated to the region.

I was going to advocate for Prime to come back. Honestly, I think he does just splendid work, really spectacular SHPing, he's a damn good voxeler, His mod project has gone quite far and I hope it comes out soon so I can play it soon(Im looking forward to it.)


Then I saw his delightful posts above. Calling a cancer patient a tumor? Saying bi-polar people should commit sudicide because they were born with a disease they had NO control over? Gee, You're a cocksucker deep down. A pure, piece of shit who I hope I never have to meet in real life. I fear i'd end up vomiting up my last meal, you repulsive son of a bitch. Your close-minded attitude is exactly why wonderful things like segregation, genocide, and other swell things happen, you immature little shit, you disgust me.

I dont care how beautiful your voxels and SHPs are, I wont lie, you are a very talented artist, yes, but you are a scumbag of a person.

Prime, I actually _dont_ care about your supposed stealing of assets(Im not taking sides here for you, or anybody else. Dont think I am.), I just find those comments about people, who have _NO_ choice about their lives, very offensive. How can you say such things like that?

Honestly, this is upto the big dons, and only them, however, let me put in my two pennies or Euros, whichever side of the pond you're on. Prime, can be allowed back, I say, go ahead. If he does this again, ban him for good. No more debating about it. He's right, really, about the community losing talent, it seriously is.If Prime can be a productive and mature member I am totally gung ho for him coming back. If he goes back to immaturity, ban him.

(PS...MHQ...why are you and prime so..eh...at war? :S Just curious...)

Ever want to play among the clouds and relax? Well, now you can, in TAKTICS' new theatre of war. Yes, Clouds. TAKTICS is possibly one of the most unique mods we've seen for Yuri's Revenge, offering up a nostalgic war for Mario fans, or just people looking for something new. While nowhere near complete, Arikado and Icyson55's efforts sofar are mindblowing. This is worth keeping an eye upon. The Skyworld will offer up interesting, cheery combat. Just hope it doesnt rain!

Not your thing? How about Reign of the Steel? A mod that, after a rather long hiatus, is back in action. Led by Holy_master at PPM, ROTS is currently bringing three factions(GDI, Nod, and Cybernetic) to Yuri's Revenge. A new render of GDI's Bison IFV(which will function like its RA2 namesake), anlong with an ingame, can be seen above.

Renegade 2 had some fabulous media for the RA2 universe, nice ideas for units and such(namely the Kirov Airship, Allied Light Tank and Soviet Vulture/Hind), I wonder if anybody attempted to voxelize these wonderful models or make cameos for them or something? I heard that the guy who converted the Ren 1(Godwin I think...) models to voxel did the same with these, but alack, I cant find them at all. So...any Renegade 2 based work for RA2/YR exist?

Hello! I am Carnotaurus, ala, C&CG's new newsposter(no, I wont be replacing MiG eater and our other beloved cast of characters, so dont fear. :p). If you dont know me, I am a poster on PPM, and creator of the pretty much unknown mod Tiberian Sun 3.0. If I get around to it, Comrades, I may start my own mod. But dont count on it. :) Anyways, Enough about me. I am just a poster. Anyways, Some news in the community, starting on the C&C3/EA front...!


EA has, thanks to the complaints of diehard fans, the + has been replaced with the classic &. Honestly, the logo looks...worse now, it just seems so drab. The cool font's gone, and its more of a generic gray colour. But hey, more nostalga. Aside from the fugly logo, EA has announced that the third faction will be revealed December 19th, and have posted up four new wallpapers on the main C&C3 Page. The Recon Bike and a Nod soldier for Nod, a Harvester and Dropship fleet for GDI fans.

One of PPM's spotlight mods(Not final dawn, dont get your hopes up on that one.), Tiberium Odyssee, an alternate vision of the Tiberian universe, on Tiberian Sun's engine, has posted new screenshots of a completed map. The team's obviously the cream of the Tiberian crop, this picture alone should be proof enough. Posted Image Banshee, also seems to be going insane, ranting about some revolution of sorts...We'll just have to see what the insane admin has in store for us, cause he aint talkin.

Also, I suggest visiting C&C Source and paying them a visit for their fourth anniversary. Aside from extra hits, they also boast a huge gallery of images from C&C games past, present, and those that may never see the light of day(Renegade 2, Anybody?), a nice download section, and a forum you can register at and spam the heck out of, too!

So, thats it pretty much. Short and sucky, sadly. Once the news starts kicking up again, expect more posts. Especially of resources and of other promising mods around the community.
