As promised, we are bringing you Contra 009 Final in 2018!
The long wait is finally over! Over 200 bugs have been fixed, many and many balance and stability changes have been made! This is a well polished version. A lot of attention was put in all aspects by all people involved: developers, testers and collaborators! 009 Final introduces three new challengers: USA, China and GLA Boss. Skirmish AI was fixed and then drastically improved. Numerous crash and mismatch errors were found and fixed.
First of all, let us say that we are so grateful and thankful for all of your voting, which helped Contra to score very high in MOTY 2018 and boost Contra's popularity.
As a thank you, we have a small gift which is actually last minute model work. It will improve visuals even more.
Angels for Cybernetic general have been remodelled and improved.
Angels are remade by Creator and dce.
This has been an amazing year for us, and for Contra. Our community grows each day. Many good and talented people are joining us, and helping us improving various segments.
But also, very important news is that Creator is back!
He will join us in our development, and help us achieve our goals and plans for next version, but even more.
Creator already improved some stuff like walking animations for spiders, walkers, projectiles and some more.
One of the new additions is hand-made map previews for all maps (by triatomic). A lot of effort and work is put on this one, everything in order to have better visuals for you!
Of course, there is a brand new launcher made by Predator, with full ContraVPN support (made by tet too)! You no longer have to search people online, struggle with settings....Everything starts with this launcher. ContraVPN is maintained by the wonderful guy tet.
Use this power wisely. Meet other people, join online games, improve your skills.

One thing which you won't miss if you play Contra, are well-known super units. All of our super units have been voiced by voice actors who made really amazing job: Maelstrom, Matthew Vanston and George Exley
Thanks to WWB2 for big attention to details, helping us with challenge missions and bug hunting, Adriane for making new multiplayer maps and triatomic for the high-quality map previews and decals! However, we need to warn you about possible Mismatch problems with AI. Blaming SAGE for such thing became a meme, but unfortunately it is a true one. We stretched this old engine in every direction, made sure to have everything polished, but with improved AI, and tons of new stuff, mismatch may happen often if you play online game with your friend vs. AI. So, please keep this in mind. Remove AI and it will be fine.

- «Хранители ворот» - это крутые дроны-хранители, созданные только для серафимов. Из-за игрового баланса убран щит серафима. Новые дроны сделаны по умолчанию, вам не нужно тратить на них деньги. - Кибернетический завод вообще был переделан по нескольким причинам. Во-первых, у старой модели была действительно плохая карта UVW, где некоторые части текстуры были растянуты. All known crashes and mismatch errors will be fixed in 009 Final.
Some maps have been improved, while other bad maps have been removed from the mod.
The Reset FPS button as well as some options in the Options menu are not functioning, so they will be removed in the next version.
Hi guys!! (and girls, I hope there is at least one girl playing Contra mod)
Autumn did not officially start yet, but sometimes we like to be super crazy and break the rules.
So even before Autumn we are bringing you Autumn update (how crazy is that)!?
As we are heading towards Contra 009 FINAL release, we are polishing and improving existing units, AI behavior and gameplay.
In this update we will show you some of the updated units. Of course, besides just units renders, there are a lot of "touches" which you will notice when actually playing.
Once again, we are doing this all for you, so please be a bit more patient.
- First one is updated Microwave Tank for Laser general. Finally that old tuna fish can is replaced with better model. Yes, he is using Avenger bottom, and no, not every tank has to be super unique.
- "Gate guardians" are cool guardian drones made only for Seraph mech. Due to game balance Seraph`s shield is removed. New drones are made by default, you don't have to spend money for them. They protect Seraph in pair. Repairing him while standing above him, destroying missiles with lasers, and shooting on both infantry and vehicles. Drones cannot be killed (nor targeted) until Seraph dies.
- Cybernetic general Factory has been remade because of few reasons. First one is, old model had really bad UVW map where some parts of texture were stretched. When exported, few animation frames were cut (no one actually noticed and I never told anyone). And texture style didn't fit other USA structures. So now, you can see brand new factory which fits Ironhand style. Factory doesn't have dining room, sleeping room and other rooms like barracks, instead, there is a butchery needed for assembly of human and robot parts. Where are human parts from? Well, don't ask me. Ask general Ironhand who claims there are less homeless on the streets since he runs his program.
- Another USA structure makeover is given to Airforce generals Superweapon. Again, bad UVW map and texture design, but also lack of night version led to improvement. Few more details added, looks neat in game.
- China also got few things. Zhu Rong or Thermobaric mortar, got improved cannon and few details attached. Once you play general Bao challenge, you will know you are in Hell.
- Contra doesn't have many public models in game. In fact, there is one only. It is famous Dragon Tank. I couldn't find a better concept for this true masterpiece, in order to make this tank unique for Contra. At the end, it would be just a slight variant of this unit. So, Dragon tank got his texture and UVW map improved to fit all other China tanks in Contra mod.
- And at last, Tank general Overlord Headquarters got improved structure. We will all agree that old one was lacking details.
And, at the end, as usual...
Please don't ask for release date as we don't know exactly. Yes, we are doing our best to release 009 FINAL this year. Both you and we are waiting for this very long. But keep in mind that we are trying not to release a version filled with bugs, or with broken gameplay where one general rules over others. We are aware that we won't be able to achieve a perfect balance, but we assure you that it will be much better than before. That's hard when you have so many unique units.
Anyway, thank you for patience, and thank you for support. It means a lot!
Yes, you need to extract the maps from !Contra008.big and put them in your Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps folder. Create a folder for each map with the same name as the .map file. When you do that correctly, they will appear in your Unofficial Maps tab in-game. Many bad maps will be cut in 009 Final (which is just around the corner), with better ones taking their place. There is a chance that we will make a map pack with all removed maps.

- I have in my plans to analyze Air Force challenge scripts. There was a tool which showed which scripts are being executed while playing. I need to search for it again. That crash could be related either to the map scripts or something which the general uses.
Have you made any progress with this problem? I appreciate you're busy so no pressure. Just want to know before I re-install Contra
Yes, I fixed it long time ago. You can download the fix from https://discord.gg/015E6KXXHmdWFXCtt (either just the fix or the unofficial patch, which includes it).
In case you didn't notice yet on Contra 009 stream videos, Cybernetic general got his spider units back, as an option to counter fast and deadly GLA attacks.
This means, when you reach rank3 and build Strategy Center, you will have to decide whether you will join the cult of Spiders or follow the path of Angels.
- if you select Angels, you will be able to build rank3 Angel units, together with their rank5 leader "Seraph" mech.
- if you chose Spiders, you will be able to use rank3 Spider units, with their mother "Widow" as rank 5 super unit.
Many of you will ask what is the difference and which one to use!? Well, it depends on your twisted mind.
- But it also depends on the type of the opponent you are facing. If you are fighting China, or USA, most likely you will go with Angels because of their firepower and armor. Angels are strong, but also slow and cost more.
- If you are fighting any of GLA generals, you will probably want to go with Spiders, as Spiders are fast and weak, but also cost less.
Depending on which option you chose, you will be able to build one Super unit, either "Seraph" or "Widow".
"Widow" is fast long range Super unit, armed with prototype of dual rail gun cannons, missile system effective vs ground and air targets, and is able to deploy spider mines for cheap price (used by repair droid in the past).
Please note that final version of Widow may differ from what you saw in video, as things are still being tested, fixed and repaired.

This post is, collectively, the best news I've gotten all week. Thanks a ton for the consideration and clearing up stuff like the Countermeasures and the Particle Cannon. Your mentioning of the Bobcat did bring something else to mind, though. At the moment, all of the explosive-clearing units I can think of off the top of my head don't disarm the explosive so much as set it off from a safe distance. Which isn't super helpful if they've spawned inside your Cyclops. Are you implying there are new disarmament mechanics incoming?
The only explosives which explode after being "disarmed" are currently demo general's Demo Traps. The AT Mines no longer explode when disarmed.
Super Weapons general got the Bobcat cleaning vehicle. We'll add the hold fire to Atlas. Auroras do not retaliate on nearby enemies now.
Countermeasures always increased aircraft's resistance to several damage types, but that was missing from the upgrade's description.
We'll think about Saturn's secondary weapon again.
Yes, the Weather Manipulation Device deals medium damage to everything and has new effects now.
Demo was indeed overpowered vs. SWG. As mentioned, she now has the Bobcat engineering vehicle which helps to clear mines. Demo mine drops have a small deploy delay added for now, but it may be increased even more. In addition, Efreet can no longer enter tunnels (no super units can). The kamikaze plane can be taken down like any plane when it starts diving down on its target.
Particle Cannon is most effective versus units (description was edited). One precise launch on a super unit will fully destroy it.

I want to toss in the idea of each USA general having a unique 4th Strategy that only they can access that does something they specialize in. The whole point of different Generals is different strategies; it's struck me as odd ever since Zero Hour that all USA subfactions have the same 3 doctrines.
Spitballing, but here goes.
Shock and Awe - Increases the blast radius of unguided bombs, making them more effective against unit blobs.
Silicon Focus - Units do not take penalties when severely damaged, fighting at top condition until death.
I actually have no ideas for this one.
Shield Generator - Strategy Center deploys a shield generator much like the ground unit whose name I can't remember at the moment, but with larger radius.
Your ideas about Air Force and Cybernetic generals are not possible to implement. We're only able to change units' range, damage and health, or change the weapon used by Strategy Center with Bombardment plan (generals used to have unique weapons in one of the previous versions, but they had too many bugs and got removed).
What we actually did after Beta 2 is, we made these bonuses affect different kinds of units/buildings depending on the general:
Cyber: bonuses affect infantry and vehicles
Air Force: bonuses affect infantry, vehicles and aircraft
Laser: bonuses affect vehicles
I already checked that it doesn't support all command and conquer games it only supports 5 of them gameranger supports those 5 games and more of command and conquer games but it doesn't support all command and conquer games like Red Alert 3 : Uprising.
I am thinking about TeamViewer VPN, Just write partner's ID and Password, [both persons must have TeamViewer VPN], I haven't tried it before.

Nope, sadly... nobody has been able to find the reason or the solution to this problem. I cannot estimate when the next version will be released, but most of the work is done. Mostly balance testing and polishing remains.
I just played with my friend and we were 2 vs 6 AI and we were about to win this!!!! But technical Error happened, Every time we play vs 6 AI and then we are about to win Technical Error happens,
Does the Technical Error happen in the final version?
And can you give me the Final Version of Contra in a link please? I can't wait.
Technical Difficulties happens for two reasons. First is problems in mod code. All known (3-4) causes are fixed in Final. The other reason is unknown and is connected to the game engine itself. Zero Hour also crashes sometimes when there is much action going on and there is no fix for it. Overall, it is safe to say that the mod crashes less often and mismatches are reduced down to the possible minimum. Specific notes on what's been changed and fixed will be in the changelog once 009 Final rolls out. It is still in development.
Increase the difficulty of the AI in Contra 009 Beta 2, it is completely easy -even if it is on insane army- before it reaches 5 stars, I can finish 7 enemies a lone if they don't reach 5 stars all I have to do is just building my defenses and keep defending until I reach 5 stars then I finish the enemies with my super unit quickly, please increase the difficulty of the AI.
Fix this mod it causes mismatch error a lot especially when you play with someone vs 6 AI.
I found a bug in Contra it is the infantry training option in the star general list it doesn't work I choose Infantry training when I be china Infantry general then I build my infantry soldiers and they are not veteran . Please fix the infantry training Option.

Insane AI is 009 Beta 2 is sometimes easy because it is not always consistent. Some generals are worse than others. There are many bugs and errors which significantly decrease the difficulty. These and mismatch errors have been fixed and will come with 009 Final, as well with ContraVPN support, allowing people to gather up and play online.
