You have to remember that authors usually make lots of mistakes and/or shortcuts. Especially because I'm pretty sure that they aren't true fans of the series. Because true fans wouldn't do something like that.

The Empire was not completely logical, but was also not illogical. The Empire was, at least, rather cost effective (For the most part...).

I agree here, but who ever said the empire was logical? They could have done it just for fun.

And I think that to call it an Executor-class is wielding a large amount of ignorance around with no control. Any ship that's in any large way/s different from another design does not go by the same class. You might as well call all the Sovereigns and Eclipses Executor-class, because, "well they're big, triangular-ish, and have lotsa guns." And hey, the Imperial-class line is triangular! Let's call it an Executor-class too!

Hence the overuse of the incredibly descriptive terms "star destroyer" and "super star destroyer" in the EU.

The Vengeance in Saga SotG is almost an afterthought in the "SSD" article (not the Executor-class article). They didn't even bother to come up with a unique stat block for it, they just basically said use the Executor stats if you want to play a DF2:JK campaign.

Assume for a moment that it is a heavy modification. Why would they bother? It gains nothing statistically and would probably take just as long to complete as building from scratch. It just doesn't add up.

Well, that's the problem. That's SotG for Saga edition, and it's statistics differ from other canon sources. Even worse, they are simplified, for easier use in SW RPG Saga.. So nope, not reliable :(

I agree completely with what you've said.

I realize that it's been lumped in as a modified Executor-class, but, honestly, it doesn't look half like one, and the only reason they give it those numbers for weapons is simply because it's been called an Executor-class. I mean, look at it. It looks like it's at least 10km, maybe as large as 16km, and assuming it really is an Executor-class, the max length is 19km. So we have a possible 3-9km discrepancy. The Executor obviously looks bigger, as noticed by the comparing Imperial-class Star Destroyers to both Star Dreadnaughts. The Executor not only looks at least 50% longer, but is a couple times wider. I was being generous when I gave it that many weapons. And I was only giving my thoughts on the figures as a base for someone to brainstorm upon if they wanted to try to add it to the Ship Pack.

And I think that to call it an Executor-class is wielding a large amount of ignorance around with no control. This is exactly why no one wants to mod it. It appeared once or twice, and therefore are no ACCURATE stats for it.

Mmmm, the weapon stats are taken out from the last Starships of the Galaxy... I really don't want to rely on that.

I believe there are not accurate stats on the Vengeance.

No one has accurate stats on the Vengeance (Dare we call it the Vengeance-class?). The most anyone's ever dragged up on it is that it's basically a modified Executor-class that's faster, and with similar armaments. Based on a picture I've seen of it, it looks around the same size as the Executor-class, but doesn't have the same surface area, so it would have less weapons. It looks to me like someone valued speed over strength in their really really really big ship for some reason (Like it goes very fast anyway, being that big), so they stripped away armament and defense, and maybe upgraded the engines.

So this could go to the PR Enhanced Ship Pack project, if they can find a model. I'd say for weapons, give it around 60-70% of the Executor-class's weapons, 50% of its fighters, 60-75% hull/shield rating, and add somewhere around 50-75% speed.

I shouldn't have to post this twice, its pretty much a Executor with a diffrent hull design.

Theoretically, based on the latest Starships of the Galaxy, it's an Executor, but with a different design.
