Get a Win7x or Win10X VM image and be done with it. Better to have it isolated in a sandbox anyway especially with how powerful computer h/w is nowadays.

This is the subject that poses the most questions to me at the moment. January was for me a period of material transition and "O.S". I started from a good old "XP" minimalist to the humbug that is "Windows10". What disappointments with the so-called technological progress that has given your intimate life in pasture has all the fools of the shadows. After a learning period has identified all the trackers and evaluate their dangers) I can now use this "O.S" with relative tranquility. But the fact is that many tools work poorly despite Windows compatibility modes. the ergonomics of the "O.S" is not optimized for modding . The height for me being having to return to my old "XP" for all my work modding.

Personally I use windows only for modding "DoW". Linux will become my "O.S" of comfort. :whathuh:

Νο,3DS MAX 2008,Object Editor and the rest of the official mod tools won't work properly in a Linux OS.
They were never designed to be used in a Linux OS(I use Ubuntu and Kali).

As brother Gambit says,we can open Corsix with wine, but that is all.

I have only tried the game, and simple operations with Corsix (Ubuntu - Debian).

It went well, but my experience is that you should use Windows because modding is so diverse, that you never know what will go wrong...

For OE, 3D and the ME, I really do not know.

(Frankly, I exclusively use windows for modding and gaming. For all other purposes, I use Linux)

Do people here have any experience modding DoW in Linux?

Steam's recent Linux support is why I reinstalled the games in the first place and now I'm interested in modding myself. The games, mods and Corsix's Mod Studio (from what little I've done so far) all work well. However, it seems that several of the Dark Crusade Mod Tools refuse to work. For example, the Object Editor and the Mission Editor can be launched with wine but crash when I try to open a file or try to create new one.

Is modding on Linux possible or did I just mess up on my end?
