Hey guys, thats right, I've decided to make another map. I know, i havent finished all the maps i've started, but this is a solo mission, one I intend to finish.


The map puts you as a leader of a GLA Scorpion Cell base, deep in the mountains near Saudi Arabia. You're attempting to gain control of the region once and for all, but the USA has other plans in mind. They have constructed an incredibly powerful prototype weapon in the region. The prototype is only known as "Project Aurora." GLA spies discovered this when they raided the last USA base in Europe, 3 months earlier (china mission 5). The documents were taken from the base to the GLA leaders, and they have ordered you to find and destroy the project, which is still being worked on. Soon, however, you realize the USA doesn't want to lose this valuable piece of weaponry. You have an hour to find and destroy the project, before they can get it operational and destroy your base.

The "Project Aurora" is a very advanced superweapon. To most people, that is its name, but to the leaders of the USA, it is called by its true name, the Particle Uplink Array. With the power of 8 particle cannons in 1 building, it can rain destruction on its opponents. When it beams it into outer space, there is also a difference. Instead of 1 satellite, it is actually 1 large satellite and a group of 8 smaller satellites. It can either beam up all the power to the main satellite and fire, or it can beam it up to the main satellite, which then beams it to the 8 companion satellites, which then fire.


The map is quite different from my other maps, in many ways. First, it has a dam with a river. Second, it HAS a river (until now i never figured it out really). Third, the river actually has a fork in it, becoming 2 rivers (it took me almost an hour to do that). Fourth, it will have a massive enemy base that will send air strikes and other forces. Fifth, it will be HEAVILY modded, for advanced techtrees and weaponry (for example, the China command center will produce usa dozers, which in turn build special buildings, like the stolen patriot missile launcher, which has been outfitted with rocket buggy missiles). Sixth, other than the Particle Uplink Array, there are NO superweapons. No scud storm. No nuke. Nothing for you. Seventh, the Sentinal Factory is a tech building now, and produces light vehicles, such as the humvee or sentry drone. And eighth, it will have beautiful terrain, far beyond any map I've made. including Against All Odds.

UPDATE

Alright, update #1. After about 6 hours of work, the majority of the terrain is finished. About 8 things have been put in the map.ini, including different command sets and weapon sets for units. Also, the intro is done, and the first 2 objectives are scripted. For all of you to drool over though, look at this.

UPDATE

Update #2.

About 9 hours of total work now. I've worked on the terrain a bit, and set up more scripts. Intro has suitable music, and has also been added to slightly. INI coding has been worked on also. Sentinal Factory now is light vehicle facotry, produces humvee, futs-lung, and sentry drone. Dam Control Center has tow missile, scram shells, overhaul, and sentry drone gun upgrades. American base has been worked on. Outpost now a seperate computer, to improve attack AI. STR file is 2 kb. INI file is now 8 kb, up from 3. Map is nearly 130 kb, and TGA is 64. Total file size: 203 kb. By the way, i will not lie here. This is NOT an april fool's day joke. I actually tried using hypercam (simply put, didn't work) for a video to prove it. I'm gonna try a replay now.

Update #3

Now 11 hours.
Little INI coding done, just a quick cleanup of the buildlists for the 3 different types of construction unit you can get. Scripting has been the main focus of this update.

List of scripts added:

Cinematic music now is 2 songs
Comanche will fly by in intro and attack your base 10 or so seconds after you gain control
Small force of demo general units will join you when you find them.
Plays a voice when you find them.
A few bugs in Objective #2 have been worked out (toxin nozzles wouldn't stop spraying, etc.).
Other scripts i forget, but nonetheless are there.


Also, i added a rather large tech area, with 9 oil derricks, a rifinery, a reinforcement pad, repair bay, and 4 SAM sites. Also includes 2 Sentinal Factories, or as they are called now, Light Factories. It also has the only 4 artillery units you can get, T-89 Howitzers. A single troop crawler, 4 UN humvees and 4 civilian vehicles are also there, for you to put terrorists in.

The dam has been reinforced with 6 marines, 3 missile defenders and 5 patriot launchers.

update

Update #4. 13 hours.

Much more has been done on the map. Now, techlines have been set more clearly, and works better. Demo GLA arms dealer produces Demo scorpion, bomb truck, and T-89 Howitzer. UN humvees were switched out for regular humvees. US will now have a 5-minute timer set every 5 minutes, which will send 2 Comanches and 2 Stealth Fighters at your base. This sounds easy enough, but i have edited the Stealth Fighter's weapon sets. They now have the Hellbomber weapon, which is about 8 slow-falling bombs that do massive damage. If you are not prepared, you will be destroyed. 3 songs will play during the cinematic now, one of which wil be the actual in-game music's first song played. INI file has increased in size by 5 kb.

Update #5. 15 hours.

INI coding is the main concern in this update. The Demo GLA Arms Dealer was experiencing some problems with the new commandset i gave it, so i reverted it to regular and gave the Tank Gen Inferno Cannon to the Light Vehicle Factory. USA Dozer command set has been set to correct specifications, lists as follows:

The Superweapon General's Raptor has been added to the airfield, with a cost of $2000. I know, you're wondering "Why spend $2000 on something thats the same as the $1400 one?" Well, they're not the same anymore. The superweapon general's raptor has a new weapon set. As follows:

The airfield (though you CAN build one, the map was unintentionally made so that there is only a TINY space you could use for building a second one, though I like that and am keeping it for balance issues), when captured and then selected, will flash the Superweapon Gen Raptor cameo and display a message about it.

Also, the Superweapon Gen Comanche has been added as a 'Spotter Copter,' with the Avenger Laser weapon.

There has been some terrain clean-up, and another attack team has been made.

UPDATE

Update #6. 18 hours.

Much playtesting done, 3rd attack group added. INI coding has been mopped up and fixed in most areas, and weaponsets fixed. It turns out with a gattling cannon on a unit, unless its a turret such as a helix turret, it cannot use any other weapons. Go figure. I changed it a bit, and now the Superweapon General Raptor now only has 2 weapons, the Tomahawk and the ATGattlingBuildingGunAir, so you have a weapon for ground units and a weapon for air units. The spotter copter is $1800, but is very useful when used in conjunction with the Tomahawk Raptor, as it allows the Tomahawks to fire off much faster.

SHORT UPDATE

A quick update, #7. 19 hours.

A few changes to the weaponry/stats of some units. Scorpion tank salvage 3 now has the Marauder tank gun, superweapon raptor has 10% more health, etc...

Not much but still something.

Sorry for the long delay in updates, but i got a new game for my Wii. If any of you like jet fighter games, try out Heatseeker. it is a VERY high quality game with extremely realistic visuals and audio effects, as well as excellent physics and weapon sets for your planes. Try it out, its also on the PS2 and Xbox 360, i beleive.


Anyways, I got a couple of announcements.

First, I have resumed work on it once more, and am already working on a new idea. The idea is for there to be bunkers which can only hold 1 unit in them, come with a unit in them, and do not have the evacuate or exit building commands, so the unit is trapped in there. Then, the unit is givin a specific weapon that makes it useful. My main idea behind this is basing it off of the logic for the infantry general bunker, which comes with units in it, and then make the only unit in it have a special type of attack. One idea is a scud bunker, which would be a scud launcher unit in the bunker. Another possibility is a inferno cannon. The possibilities are quite limitless.

Second, I have will no longer give out information on most of the units I change, and one of my ideas will be a special construction unit (it wont be a worker, dozer, or engineer) that can construct a superweapon, but then will self destruct. This unit will be HIGHLY mobile and very easy to kill, not to mention in a very secretive area.

Third, there are now 2 boats in the river, which will try to protect the dam.

I am proud to announce that Operation: Sting of the Scorpion is now COMPLETE!

It is now available for download.


Objectives:

1. Destroy the American outpost, while still capturing the airfield.
2. Capture the Dam Control Center, and inject toxins into it to clog it, so the main defenses go down.
3. Destroy the American main defensive line.
4. Destroy the Particle Cannon Array.
5. Your base MUST survive.
