Does anyone need a mapper for a mod or anything?

I'm still learning the finer points of Worldbuilder, but so far I'm adequate at mapping.

I may be able to use a mapper. Can I see some example screenshots?

The BON mod is always glad to have more staff since our head mapper went mysteriously missing... check out our website and take a look around. :p

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

That map needs more textures, shrubs and different trees.

I know. I did it before I read m@tt's tutorial for mapping. I am now working on a new mountain map, and am starting on the textures.

On second thought, I'm probably not ready to have a mapper yet. However, when I am ready I'll contact you (hopefully, unless I forget) and then I'll see if your mapping skills are up to the task though, and if any of your made maps might be useful.

These are the conditions for maps for me:

1. The map must be of a real location in Middle Earth, preferably somewhere a battle might have taken place during The War of the Ring.
2. Put lots of tension on Signalfires, Outposts and Inns. These play a big role in my mod and need to be used in the best ways possible.

Hmmm... I thought I had come up with another condition earlier, but I forgot it. Anyway, if you follow these guidelines your maps are more likely to be suitable for me to use, however I'm not interested in hiring a mapper at this time.

I'll start working on some maps now, and save them for when you need them. But I won't be able to place any signal fires, Outposts, or Inns until I know more about there purpose in your mod.

P.S. How does a map of the area in front of Barad'Dur sound to you? I think EA has one for the cinimatics for BFME I, but I'll try and make one for BFME II and ROTWK.

Ah yes. I've often thought Mordor needed some new maps. I'd say a Gorgoroth, Barad-Dur, Mount Doom and Sea of Nurn (I think it's the Sea of Nurn) maps along with The Black Gate, Minas Morgul and Cirith Ungul as the maps on its borders. And then there would be Isenmouth and Udun in the north of Mordor. The place you're describing is probably Gorgoroth, the plain between Minas Morgul, Isenmouth (that is, the inner gate of Mordor,) Barad-Dur and Mount Doom. Please don't feel like you have to do all of these. I'm just brainstorming. The current Mordor maps are a bit limited and strange. The current Mordor map might be able to be changed to the sea.

As for the capturable buildings, they are pretty much the same as normal, but try to put some near the center or in highly accessible places on the maps, so players fight over them, instead of placing them in the backs of the bases.

The only real difference in performance (other than a few changes, like increase in Outpost resources) is the Signalfire. Instead of quickening power recharging, it will allow you to summon allies. Kind of like the inn, but a little different. The inn allows the hiring of assistants, where as the signalfire will allow you to summon a small army. It will be an important structure. I want the structures to be much more important than before.

I can do all those, and I like putting things like signal fires in large, obvious choke-points so players will constantly be clashing over them. I can actually do all those maps you mentioned, at least if you're willing to wait. The only thing I'm worried about is Isenmouthe. I don't know where, or even what that is. If you could point out where it is mentioned in the books, or anything that might give me a clue about it, that would be great.

It is mentioned in the part of RotK where Frodo and Sam are disguised as Orcs in Mordor. Not a lot is known about it, but it would be kinda like a mini Black Gate.

Here are some links: Tolkien Gateway, One Wiki to Rule Them All, Wikipedia., Thain's Book, Encyclopedia of Arda.

That should help. Also see this map for it's location. There it is under its other name, Carach Angren.

Yeah, after I my last post, I googled it, and found that it is simply a large back-up gate between Udun Vale and Gorgoroth. By the way, I found out about a fortress overlooking Udun Vale: Durthang. It is built on top of the shadow mountains at the point were they branch out to enclose Udun Vale. It is also where the orcs that Frodo and Sam hid amongst came from. Do you want me to build a map for that too? By the way, for the sea of nurn, I'll just bring up the EA version of mordor, and play around with it a bit, see what i can do.

I don't really care. You can do other outside of Mordor maps, also. It's just that I've always noticed an abundance of unmapped locations in Mordor.

Just do whatever you would like, and I'd like to be kept up with screens if it's alright.

Sure, why not? Just ask for download links whenever you need a map.
