This is old, I have known about this for more than a month and so have my fellow members of Middle Earth Center.
Yeah, Middle Earth Center has already been discussing it. Old news, but good news.

I hadn't heard of it but I am kind of wondering why you posted this in the SEE structures part of the SEE development area. Can't exactly see a connection between this news and SEE structures.

and yes, you can have lore accuracy AND good gameplay. It just takes a long amount of development time.

what i would like to see is a video game with christopher tolkien in consultation, with all the units/buildings looking just like christopher tolkien (the only true source of canon now) imagines them. it would be interesting, because i think that some stuff will look very different from the film, especially guys like easterlings, and even faramir and boromir.
it's a shame that he doesn't want to get involved with the making of such films and video games. i think that it would only be good for jrr tolkien's memory if films and video games are made true to his vision, and not with all this creative license that some games take.

- Tolkien got money
- The film makers / game developers got money
- Fans got a product
- People got interested in LotR and started reading the books even more
- You don't have to see/play the derivatives
So, win for everybody

There's a whole lot more to a "win" than just money. In general it seems people with more money are losing the most of anyone. Ruining a great book and destroying the author's wishes doesn't sound like a win to me. I couldn't say exactly what his wishes were, but I don't think a movie was in them.
