Hey, I don't know if you guys do this, but I came across a site called Turbosquid which hosts alot of 3d models for sale. Along side these however, some of the modelers posted free models.

I only found 5 free models which could be used for this game, Freedom by FreedomDST, Providence by FreedomDST, Gandowana by caixiaoshan, Destroy Gundam by caixiaoshan, and Messiah by caixiaoshan.

Heres how the Freedom looks.

I will not post any more until you guys tell me its okay to.

I understand, and they are all huge like that. Just thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I decided to try my hand at modeling using the RX-78-2 tutorial.

This is suppose to be a Strike dagger head.

and a better one

Okay, this is my first try at modeling and this body section took maybe 4 hours while watching ghost hunters.

It still needs work and the colors wrong, but I think it looks like Strike.

Well, the body is now mostly done, and I'm moving on to the rifle and shield.

If some one would tell me where to find it, i could tell you the poly count so far.

All in all, I think I did well for my first time modeling.

Looking nice. Where can you see the poly count at because I'm getting really curious about how large my model is.

Here's a slightly improved version

Strike_Dagger_improved.jpg

All I changed was the upper arm and the side panels for the skirt to make them look more like their meant to.

One word...

Brilliant!

It's great to see this mod back on the road again and its looking great, I saw a thread on another site where some guy was trying to create a Transformers mod but the polys were just far to high, thats the only problem when making models like these (for Transformers and Gundam).

Thanks and I agree, poly count is a problem which worries me as I do not know how large my model is now

Hey! u can check your poly count by atttaching every part together, after that click on the polygon button(the red square at the side next to vertex and edges), then just click and drag your cursor to select the whole model! the poly count will be shown on the selection panel. you can see the poly count example on my screenie to the extreme right. Thats where u ll see the poly count. Oh and AWESOME WORK ON YOUR FIRST MODEL!!! it puts my impulse models to shame XP

It has 5694 polys. That's good right?

This is not including the rifle or shield I have yet to make.

I like your sword impulse, its cool and to make the rest of the impulses all you have to do is change the pack and color of the chest so your set for like three or four more models. Though, I would give it the upgraded shield and rifle unless that really would make it unable to be used.

Anyway, I like your start on Strike E and cannot wait to see the rest, but as a little advice, Strike E and Strike Noir are identical except for the color and the wings Noir has, so try making Strike E first, then modifying it into Noir giving two units with little additional modeling. This will speed up model creation, thus allowing this mod to be done sooner.

I'm planning on making the Aile pack and Strike Gundam at some point hopefully before school starts back up, so if anyone has made these two models already it would be nice to know now.

Okay, I think Strike Dagger is finally done (except you know, the rifle and shield I'm procrastinating on).

I changed some small things with the chest to match more and gave it a new skirt as more accurate.

Strike_new_skirt.jpg

and full body shot

Strike_best.jpg

New poly count is 5740

By the way, I seem to be having less luck with making the rifle.

Here's the current version.

Strike_with_current_rifle.jpg

Needs a lot of work and currently looks nothing like the actual rifle.

Actually there is an easier way to check the poly count. Simply go to File>Summary Info and next to were it says Vertices is your poly count for the model.

Also if you guys are planning to optimize these models for the game you really need to get those poly counts down. Especially for the units that there will be many of like a strike dagger. The original Legacy model was just over 1000 poly's and that was a unit there was only going to be one off. Most of the mass produced units were allotted 500-800. The only models over 5000 were the warships.
