The maps could be:
  • Completely corrupted.
  • Have stuff from mods inside them.
  • From the wrong game (for example you might be opening a map from RotWK in the BfME1 Worldbuilder)
  • Too big for your computer to handle
  • Have strings attached... (In the map folder there might be a file with .str as its extension)
I am pretty sure I know of more cases where maps won't open. I get it all the time. Give us more details and we can see what we can do to help.

Or, your bfme2 may be a little messed up if youve messed about with your directories. In this case a reinstall is the only option.

It depends on whether you get an error or not. Generally, the majority of errors I've had from opening maps is because of the map.ini being in the same folder.

map.ini in the same folder? What does it means? this map has a str attached also a map.ini i removed str and map.ini with no results.I have a good computer i can open all maps without problem. This map is fro rotwk and bfme2 is the jus sauron map of middle earth. It is very well done..i want to play it..with more manpower but the manpower is limited in this map and only with the worldbuilder i can remove this limit.
.Also there is a map of middle earth, middle earth final version. i want to modify (i asked some names of middle earth maps in another thread, if u know smth tell me) but i cant open it also.

What a peculiar solution.
