Hello chums! I'm quite excited to announce my latest map in my 'Again' series. Edoras Again is a totally new fortress map based of the PJ's Edoras shown in the movies and the Edoras in the BFME trailers and Inside the battle video series.

As of right now I'm not entirely sure what to do with it, below are the following approaches I could take with the map along with the difficulties involved with each:

  • Convert it into a skirmish map - No problem whatsoever
  • Transfer and update the scripts from "Evil Edoras" to act as a replacement map for a campaign - relatively difficult
  • Script an entirely new map based around defence of Edoras - Truth is this is quite unlikely and even if I did attempt it I wouldn't start from scratch, I'd probably import the HD scripts and edit them to my requirements as it is incredibly difficult to script fortress maps.

I'd like a lot of input in regards to this so I'm going to upload a top down photo of the map which people can edit and re-upload with their opinions of stuff such as possible objectives, locations of castles/camps in skirmish e.t.c. Basically if you've any suggestions at all please bring them up.

Here's a bunch of in-game screenshots as well.

Cheerio!

Bloody hell that's good. However, I've a teeny weeny problem with it: there's no textures to blend with the thicker walls, so they don't really look like they've been there a while. But that's just me, I think.

Thanks for that, I'll try a dirt texture

Right I've been working like a madman to get this done as quickly as possible and I'm pleased with the result, I've linked the download in the main post.

Thanks very much and NJM don't quit as people like me are to set in the ways of BFME to understand the new (if you can even call it that anymore) elements and aspects of BFME II, and you're maps are obviously wonderful.

I was just kidding... I do wonder if it'd be permissable to convert your edoras to bfme ii and use it in SEE? Would save me the headache.

Go for it! All of the maps that I've made (excluding mod exclusives) are avaliable for any mod, plus you guys wouldn't even need to ask me as I'm sure you'd include a credit somewhere.

Thanks very much fudge. Its great to be able to add such a great map to the mod, especially since my time to map has become so limited.

You guys are more than welcome, and SEE is a wonderfully high calibre mod that will (I'm sure) make the map look great with all the new content. Oh and whoever's editing it has my full permission to do with it as they please, I wouldn't want anybody to go to extra effort for the sake of retaining the map's current look.

That's good to know. We plan to create all the buildings from the movie, and now that i know its ok, place them on top of the mountain. Also bfme ii has some additional rohan buildings I thought would look good in place of the some of the others.

Thanks Fudge! I'm happy you like our project (even if it takes ages to complete it). I once had a fantastic Structure Modeler (with the funny nickname TTandCHotmail) that made some awesome replicas of Rohan's Edoras structures like a Weta replica of The Golden Hall. I'm sure NJM can put all these great assets in your awesome map =)
