Hi,

I just bought Red Alert 3 through steam today and am trying to play online. Here is some background info:

  • The title should contain the game you are having issues with[Red Alert 3] Cannot start game.
  • What version of the game are you using Normal, on Steam
  • What kind of error do you get and at what time? I can sign in, chat with people, host a game, join a game, etc. However, whenever it is time for the game to start I get this error message:
"Connections are in progress, or connection problem detected. Please wait for the connection to finish, or kick the player who has the connection problem. Connection in progress 1-2"
  • What operating system are you using? Windows 8.1
  • Your error log file. This can be found by typing %TEMP% into your Windows search bar. The file you need is called CNCOnline_Log.txt. You may upload it into your post or copy and paste its contents.

----- C&C:Online Launcher Start -----
Game: Red Alert 3

  • If you cannot connect to other players, also do this:
  • Disable port forwarding and DMZ in your router. This is the only thing I couldn't do. The router is my dads, and he does not remember the login credentials for the router.
  • Download the connection diagnostic tool here: http://server.cnc-on.../NATNegTest.rar
  • Extract it into a folder and double-click on the .bat file.
  • Copy-paste the output to your help topic.

NAT negotiation works with your router and connection.
==> You do not have to use port forwarding.
Press any key to continue . . .

Here are the solutions I've tried:

Solution 3: Try adding C&C:Online to your Firewall exceptions. Use Google to find out how this is done. I didn't see C&C:Online on my list of firewall exceptions, but I did check that RA3 is an exception.

Solution 5b: [RA3 ONLY] Removing the static port: If, when starting a game in RA3, your connection always times out, try the following:
Find your game's Options.ini (this can be found by typing %appdata% in the Windows search bar and opening the game's folder there). Open Options.ini and remove the following line:
FirewallPortOverride = 16000Then save Options.ini and set it to read only (right click > properties).

Thank you very much for your help!
