My Step-By-Step Guide to Making a Skin:
1.
First you will need to make a folder to hold your skins images.
These are the FTP settings:
HOST: origin-network.net
USER: skino@origin-network.net
PASS: oniks
Goto the folder called 'style_images'. Inside you will see the default skin, '1'. Copy it to your hard drive. Re-name this to somthing fitting, like "evil_uber_skin". Don't put spaces in this name.
Upload your images folder into the 'style_images' folder (root/style_images/HERE). You how have an image folder to work with.
2.
Now you need to make a copy of the default skin to work with as your canvas.
Goto http://skino.origin-network.net/ and login.
NAME: Skino
PASS: onics
At the top it will say Admin CP, go there and login with the same name and pass.
Now your in go down the list to the 'Skins & Templates' section. Click the + to expand the section.
This bit get very long.
Base everything on the default skin. Rename each to something fitting.
Goto 'Macros' and click 'Create new macro set'.
Goto 'Style Sheets' and click 'Copy to new style sheet'.
Goto 'HTML Templates' and click 'Create new template set'.
Goto 'Board Wrappers' and click 'Create new wrapper'.
Will all your new parts you need to make a single controler. Goto 'Manage Skin Sets' and click 'Create new skin set' the reason for all of the above will now be known. Fill in everything with the parts you just made. Use an 'inline' stylesheet, as thay look better.
You now have a skin.
3.
Heres the hard part. You now have to edit all the images and the Style Sheet.
Doing this takes ages and is very hard. Good Luck!
To see your skin, as you edit, make a new forum and assign the skin to it.
4.
Once you're happy with how you skin look goto 'Manage Skin Sets' and click 'Export' (next to your skins name). A file will now be compiled and placed in the 'Archive_Out' folder.
Make a new topic and post a link to it. I'll thn move it to this board and apply it your projects forum.
Job Done.

The directory 'Skin' is not writeable by this script. Please check the permissions on that directory. CHMOD to 0777 if in doubt and try again

Don't think of it as code. Think of it as a list of objects and what colour thay should be.
All you need to do to make a new skin is change the colours.
It's just a case of finding out which line joins to which peice of the forum.
In IE you can goto view souce, then use the find option to help you.

I find it helps to have PSP open while i edit the colours, that way you can copy/paste the hex and print screen on your skin to check it's colours.
After more things are found i'll edit my first post and clean the topic.
