Bullethead and I were planning a Renegade conversion but we never got around to it. Most of our time was situated around Supremacy.

I think Ren 2 and TT were canceled because of September 11th's event in 2001. Some "higher authority" made them do Generals and involve Iraq on that story....

No, that made them pull RA2 off the shelves for a few months over here.

But few months later, they scraped TT to make Generals because of it, Fenring. Do you remember some of these topics of EA employees complaining about working nearly 100 hours a week? One of them said that the project they were working on was totally changed because of the september 11th's event.

actually, there is a renegade 2 mod out there for renegade(1)... its pretty basic, little bit leaning on the alpha stage, but released as a beta...

thats as close to renegade2 well ever get im afraid...

anyho... ren2 was cancelled cause Westwood was closed down... god only knows why... the elite team that was in charge of making YR was then send out to make generals, and the rest i think you all know...

Renegades a great game!

Sure, its not polished, and sucks up more system resources then it should thanks to horrible code, and locks the system up so hard that you have to unplug the PC if you exit the game while using XP and SP2 [ I just alt-tab out and end the proccess tree for game2.exe ]

But its very enjoyable, and I still play it to this day as my Primary FPS

Meh, Ren's a bit dull. So static and such. In a game like UT or CS, you're constantly on the move, constantly doing new stuff, instead of just bombarding a building that's constantly being repaired.

At any rate, Ren never sold well.

True.

But its also a brilliant diversionary tactic.

Force the enemy to use the bulk of their forces as Techs to repair a structure, while your rumrunner, if you will, runs in to plant the beacon in their Bar/HON and end the game.

Or to C4 the MCT of another critical structure.

Preferably the war factory.

And for argument's sake, RA2 was withdrawn because it had the WTC on one Soviet Mission. It was the objective to capture the Allied Battle lab situated right between the two towers, if I recall correctly. (I play RS now, so... :p)

Yeah thats true.. In the Map about New York in YYR the name was changed to Building..
Paris monuments had a same thing, because WW wasnt allowed to use the real nams.. hence why the Eifeltower never actually looked like the eifel Tower..

As For Ren2.. it probably was cancelled because EA didnt like the first Alfa's AND was disapointed because of the sales.. thats how the industry works, there's nothing to do about it..

Oh and AG, the Chrono Prison wasnt the worst fault.. the worst was in the CNC Combat Pack that included TS, TS:FS, RA2, YR and Ren.. but it had screens of Gen on the back..

lol thats whacked :)

I still hate how the public society considers games and real life to be "linked"

Like on the ancient eclipse days, someone flamed me cos i said the terrorist was an funny unit or something.

Although that new 3d stragety set in London and Washington may be turning the trend.
