Maybe your Router has a firewall (don't know what's common over there in the UK)?
Do you have any problems with any other games? Do you have all the updates installed?

How fast is it? do you know? 28k?, ...)Im connected with a modem
grrr I wanna play online again *weeps*
It may be to slow for online games as CnC (or be a pain in the a... but work).
Or is it a DSL modem?
weird.
Anyways, maybe you wanna try out a bigger cnc Forum, they may have a solution, the knowledge here is, due to the number of users, quite limited compared to other Forums :-)
just try to use google at it :-) And its sounds like a general CnC problem to me.

What message does C&C display when you try to connect?
2nd:IS your C&C version a LEGAL one, bought in a store, not a copy?
this could be 1 of the problems causing it to 'block' your internetconnection.
3rd: Is your version updated with the latest patches? If your version is an illegal copy then it might not be possible to update it.
4th: Can you play OTHER GAMES online with your computer?
5th: Is your computer in a network? if YES then it might be behind a firewall or router. if NO then see if your computer has some kind of software which could hold back internet play.
answer these questions in this particular order and we're getting somewhere

k then,
1= unable to establish a connection with zero hour servers, please check your connection and try again
2= I bought it for £28 from play.com so I hope its legal
3= Yeah its updated with patch 1.04
4= I dont play any other games.
5= Nope it aint on a network and I cant find anything that should block it.

ok, first check if you're able to play other games online.
I have a slight suspicion that your internet is not properly configured or that there is an error somewhere in your C&C.
Does your other internet stuff, like email, msn, forums (general internet business) work properly? no abnormal crashes or anything?
Have you tried reinstalling C&C?
Option 2: your settings IN C&C could not be set properly, go to the options and check if your netconnection there is set correct
