I think that hosting individual modders is better for those who have a lot of small projects on the go - but it should simply be an alternative to the large project hostage instead - perhaps all the 'mini-modders' should be grouped together into smaller communities instead of as individuals too.

it would overload origin i think

it should be for mini-modders who have done a mod that origin likes before if you get my drift

each modder must have made a mod that has been liked by the orgin staff before the modder gets a section

Im not sure about checks as strong as Comrade-Max's but there needs to be some kind of thing to check so that we know we aren't hosting crap.

Best to let thudo decided if he wants it on SDI or if he want to try and make his own mini site for it.

As always i'm trying out new ideas, heres a new one:

ModdER Hosting
Each hosted modder gets a place (modders.game-mod.net/moddername/HERE) to upload there files to. Uploads are done with a simple web based interface and can be a max of 3mbs. Total space each person gets is undecided, but we have loads, so it does not matter.
People also get a sub-forum (Ori -> Game Mod Projects -> ModdER -> moddername).

Thats the consept. Suggestions welcome.
Whould you like such a thing?

I like the idea. I already have a small storage area for my models/work that I use as a test facility. I'm sure some people would take advantage of it.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

For some reason I don't think we admins really count. I gave Liamh a space as well, so he didn't have to use a free web thing, and I had easy access to everything. I think it would help with people who are using free hosting to host images and such, and the hotlinking problems and such.

Yeh, alot of Free hosts are killing the ability to Hotlink nowadays.
Which is fair enough, it's their bandwidth.

Limits can be put on what the user can upload.
There could also be a limit on how many file downloads (/views for image) thay can have. This way there wont be a bandwidth drain.

I was thinking this could have an auto-signup, so it's almost like a normal free file host (but done Ori style).

I understand it would be a good thing to have, but do you think theres a demand for such a thing?

you mean any small time modder can post his files here i dont see anything new in the idea but i think it would be a good thing as you have enough space.

I like the idea. But don't get an overdosis of accounts here. Maybe a kind of "inactivity rule" will also help here.
