bit hard to see yet, but scrin buildings seem much better designed than NOD buildings (which I honestly detest)

Anyone notice the portal?

I guess it's kinda a bit like Stargate, for how the Scrin get to Earth...

Ugh, it looks terrible. EALA have been watching too much Starship Troopers and eating too much mutant LA shellfish. You couldn't throw more ugly cliches into it if you tried :(

Starship Troopers + Earth 2160 Alien side + convoluted and blatantly obvious mind control/mutation abilities ahoy = Scrin

How very generic...they could have really had fun, but they did the most obvious, unnormous and wholly expected thing possible.

Oh, and am I the only one thinking Ori and Goa'uld for 4th and 5th sides?

I would take a look at those old concept arts for the none included scrin units... that would give you an idea where they got the main ideas from.

Besides from a uniquness point of view, there is nothing that is completly original, everything has been done. If they had taken a different approach it would have reminded people of other things.

As they say modders are the hardest crowd to please.

I like the approach, it seems like a good approach to me. Designs look I imagined they would, they still need to be improved on but I like what I see...

Most apparent thing that strikes me is that people complain when they follow the WW concepts in some way and it is always the same when they do not... I would hate to be in EA´s cloths, whatever they do they can never come close to "glorious" WW...

Yeah...Uniqueness isn't the strongest point here especially with units but buildings are pretty stylish.

I would assume that other sides stuff was most likely made to look less impressive/low tech so aliens got the real impressive look.

I have to agree with gamemate here, i think the shots look good. Still need some improvements but these are just some of the first shots.

It was always going to be difficult to add a 3rd side since its always been just the 2 good/evil sides (with the acception of Cabal). So critisism would no doubt be high about this, but i think it will work out for the best...

That is one of the few things they manged in Dune II and Dune 2000;
Instead of some advanced way to make the it work out with two evil sides, thye just made all three (four) fight for control of Dune, just in different ways. That way, you could have them evil, yet with totally different ideologies, purposes, backgrounds, and methods.

Atreides campaign: Crush the two other and the Emperor because he interferes.
Harkonnen campaign: Crush the other two and the Emperor because he interferes.
Ordos campaign: Crush the other two and the Emperoro because he interferes.
Corrino campaign: (if it had excisted) Crush three others.

The purpose of all sides: Controll of Dune.

It's that simple.

I wish I such a simple plan.

Well the aim is still the same, whenever you have a resource on the field the main objective is to control it and the map..

The one in control is usually the winner since that army will be able to outproduce the other. Essence is the same as Dune, take control and do so early and you will have a upper hand.

So your wish is not a wish it is a fact

IMO the portal (or whatever it should be) looks quite good. The units seem far too much like insects to me. And no, not the good kind of insectish style (like in GCII for example), but the bad one. But meh, it's only even more to mod for us

EA always have to have their tunnel logic somewhere of course (the portal). I don't really like those units, they're like shiny blue forms of the Cyborg Reaper and the RA1 Ants

I would assume that other sides stuff was most likely made to look less impressive/low tech so aliens got the real impressive look.

I would agree with that.

Seconded.
I'm still hoping that it turns out that these guys are actually the ones who sent tiberium.

I have a mod concept that depends on that.

I have a mod concept that depends on that.

But the beauty of modding is that even if something isn't what you want or need it to be, you can make it that. So even if the Scrin aren't the ones who sent Tiberium, make them the ones who sent Tiberium.

Note: concept.

Anyway, I think if I made the aliens something they weren't in the original game, I'd have gamers on my back for doing it.
Oh, well. They'll have to live with my decision.
That's another beauty of modding.
The modder ultimately is in charge.

wel if this game gets released end of march, it should be going gold end of february/beginning of march.. So with only 3 months of development, I wouldnt count on this to be any form of concept

I do hope they have some human like aliens though. These scrin could hardly even use the ship the had in TS..
