Haloes 1 and 2 Numbers don't lie. Up until recently, H2 was the most frequently played game on XBOX Live. Both games recieved Phenominal reviews from EVERY reviewer out there, including the players.

Halo is quite possibly the most overrated game in existance - I enjoyed each only as much as the next generic FPS.

Halo storyline ruled, but the gameplay is extremely linear. Multiplayer of Halo1 is utterly amazing, but H2 is just a race to the sword.

My top 10, in order:

FF7. 'Nuff said.

Oblivion. I don't care what you naysayers say nay to, Oblivion is a gorgeous game to play, and it's just VAST! I've explored the map as one character, and in roughly seven hours I've still only managed to discover most places in the West Weald...haven't even got to the Eastern Half of the map yet. And I'm not convinced I've found everything yet. Plus, it has a rideable unicorn. Just don't piss it off.

Unreal Tournament. It takes the multiplayer biscuit even now. UT2k4 isn't as good...its only superior point is that it has vehicles.

Medieval 2: Total War. I hate only two things about it. One: You can't choose your faction's heir. Two: Pathfinding's sometimes off.

Sonic The Hedgehog (include Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles). Utter classics, worthy of a spot.

Knights of the Old Republic. An utterly amazing RPG worthy of more veneration than you're giving it.

Warzone 2100. A campaign to die for, and over 21,000 possibilities.

The Longest Journey. Short of FF7, this is about as good as storylines get. And the ending...

DoW. The campaigns kinda suck, and I don't reckon much to the universe in itself, but DoW is an incredible game.

I was going to add TimeSplitters 2 and a few dozen other games, but...

Twilight Princess is looking to be better than Ocarina.

And Wii Sports. Oh god. Genius.

Wii Sports is more of an introduction into the control system than much of a real game. It is fun for a little while though.

Metal

Gear

Solid.

I was utterly addicted to the first part on PS1, finished about 30 times, got all the goodies and then bought the PS2.

Which gave me access to Metal Gear Solid 2.

Played it more then part 1, got all the goodies, even all the bloody colored wigs for the Raiden character.

After a year, I was addicted to Metal Gear Solid 3. The spookyness of the jungle, the survival, the absence of a radar, the bugs, (living creatures, not glitches and errors, it didn't have those.) the trees, the bushes, everything was perfect.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will be next.

However, I have also greatly enjoyed the CnC Tiberian Series and alot of other Windows 95 games from back in the day. I wasn't very active during the DOS period though.

Another legend I just thought of is Mario, the old 2d Mario's I mean. I got a NES one day, and bought a SNES for Super Mario Bros. Bloody awesome. The feeling when you first discovered Star World. Incredible.

No fuel left for the pilgrims

Soul 2.4

Background process. Has something to do with some activity going on somewhere. Sorting junkmail, I think. No value or interest. Doesn't do much except hog resource.

Lol, in just the same way as Supreme Commander is the best game ever, although it probably has more chance of becoming it...graphics doth not make a game. Which is why FF7 is better than FF8, even though I think FF8's graphics are the best of all the FFs to date, even FF10.

You really think so? I enjoy FF10 better than the rest (Excluding 7) not only because of the better gameplay, but also because of the graphics. I feel that it gives the character more Humanity... I can relate better. I'd also prefer to play a game where the Chars are idetifyable based on the looks of each, not just the color of their pixelated cape. Sure retro-graphics are cool and all, but nicer graphics=more buyers=more players. Hence why companies are exploiting the possibilities of Hi-Def TVs (Case in point- Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo. Those are all the big players in the gaming industry...)

Nicer Graphics != More Buyers != More Players

Case Study:

Quake 4. Fantastic visuals, quite a few people bought it (but nowhere near as many as Quake 3), is hardly really played online to any real extent because it's awful. You'll find 10-20 times as many UT2004 or Quake 3 servers anyday.

OK, my turn :thumbsdownsmiley: :::

Starcraft:: Gameplay not that good but its lucky to be in the list because great sci-fi fantasy and one of the most dramatic storyline i have ever played.

COH:: Awesome graphics + Awesome tactical strategies.

RON:TAP:: Great age-flowing with economic stuff and lotta strategic tactics.

Cards:: Teh most classic game i've ever played XD

"Cards" is not a game :p There are, like, thousands of card games. Texas Hold 'Em...now there's a game.

Still, I also disagree with graphics = more players. Clearly you never heard of Soldat :D

Of course, I shall pose the inevitable counterargument before he does. And it can quite easily be exemplified by one game:

Halo 2. The classic pitfall of style over substance. I'm sure you can make your own similar suggestions.

Best to worst.. possibly.

1.) Resident Evil 2 (PS1) - Best. Game. Ever. Its got the zombies, the gripping storyline and the all awsome bosses. Burkin FTW!

2.) Sonic 3 & knuckles (Mega Drive / Genesis) - Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles on the end, what more could anyone want?

3.) Resident Evil 4 (PS2) - Damn nice graphics, great gameplay and an alright story.

4.) Tiberian Sun FireStorm (PC) - Well the missions were the best ever at least.

5.) Resident Evil (PS1) - Started a genre. Totally awsome, but the bad voice acting and a sort of lag due to PAL in Europe just brought it down.

6.) Tiberian Dawn (PC) - Kick ass game but its starting to feel dated. :p

7.) Ultimate Doom (PC) - Still awsome on Nightmare mode...

8.) Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS1) - OMG still never got all those gems..

9.) Halo (PC) - Best online FPS game so far? Yes it is.

10.) Yuri's Revenge (PC) - WTF is this doing here?!

and finally... the one and only... Tetris! Why? Endless fun is why!
