Has anyone else played UAW yet? Awsome game!

But the question does come up... Is this game a better fit for Gundam Legacy? At first glance I would say YES! Why, well a few reasons have come to my attention.
-Earth has reagions, though there is no space combat yet petro has hinted at it. Being that it is Universe at War.
-Game is much more Dynamic (has basebuilding), more of a complete stratigy game. (and about a 1,000,000X more fun to play)
-Procedual animations for some units.
-Mech units in game that can do things like: turn at the waist, auto boost/fly, convert air units to ground units. (though some of this is possible in EAW in some sense it would require a lot of work to replicate)

I dont have anyplans to switch at this moment because I want to see what kind of mod support the game will receive, no point converting to a game that ends up being harder to mod then EAW(though this is probely impossible). Untill then I would love to hear opinions.

Id like to see the mod finished for EaW first. But it would be cool to see it on UaW.

We Aussies aren't getting it till January 31st or February, it's such a load of shit.

I will try other avenues to obtain it though.

Ive only had a chance to play the demo. The game overall is decent. Probably not something I would buy unless we were going to be making the mod on it though. I realize EAW is a bitch to mod so im up for the switch if the mod support is better for UAW.

I am curious as to how they introduce space if at all though. Would it be an expansion or there next game in the series? Cause that is kinda the whole reason we selected EAW in the first place.

It feels more suitable for Gundam. Or anything that has mecha to begin with, since UaW has mech units itself. If the mod comes out better on UaW except for the lack of space combat, i could live with it. But for myself im pretty certain that space will be in UaW, in the game or an expansion.

Sounds too good to be true too. Better to see mod support first, like 'finite says.

I'm pretty sure UaW will be much more modable then EaW was, I think there was a thread on the Petroglyph forums were members were asked to ask what they want from the game modding wise.

I have obtained a copy of UaW.

It's good, but there's something about it that really bugs me the wrong way.

nothing play wise, it's just some of the units for the novus run like they've got a piece of metal up their... metal asses.

Mirabel moves so gundamish eh, it will be interesting to see how they handle how she flys in space for an expansion. BTW the reason you havent herd from me is I've been setting up some comp upgrades. New speakers, woofer, and 20.1 inch flat \ wide screen monitor.

I hear that. So your birthday's around December too?

The whole of UAW seems to play on some kind of old school. Im not really sure if its intended as a play on stereotypes...but if it is its a pretty good one.

What with giant tripod walkers and mecha-like robots...

Sorry for the late answer DLR, but yea it is, 16th to be precise.

But also, if we were seriously thinking about switching *cough UAW tools on PG forums finite* would it really be to this game? Honestly, I like Space Battles ALOOOOOOOOOT more than ground battles and I'm disliking this engines inability to cooperate with me...

So if we were switching, my honest opinion on a game to switch to would be Sins of a Solar Empire.

Any of you guys seen it? it looks to be the premeire Space Strategy game this year :p

I have played Sins of a Solar Empire (awsome EPIC space stratigy game) but I think we are planning to stick with EAW until we hear FOR SURE that UaW will have space battles. I'm nearly 100% sure they will as the game is "UNIVERSE at War" not "Earth at War", and like SG said I love the space battles aspect of Gundam Legacy.

IF you did switch to that game then you'd be leaving out any European's who are awaiting this mod, as far as I can tell from checking on GameFAQs and Gamespot Sins of a Solar Empire has only been released in the USA and on thier forums they have no plans for a European release..

just thought I would bring that to your attention.

However UAW does seem like a good choice if it will have space battles.

no we wouldn't.

Gamefaqs and Gamespot are the worst when it comes to release dates.

It will come out in Europe, that's for sure.

Sins looks quite good, with both civilisation and in-depth realtime rts components. Mod wise tho, is it easy to mod? Also, when we talk civ style rts, usually you'd have to output alot of stuff to convincingly create an actually civilisation. Not sure if there's enoguh material in SEED for that, you'd have to make alot of stuff up. Addtionally, civ games arent as good at conveying the story of a few individuals, which will make problems for the legacy story.

Just putting out some possible roadblocks here.

As for the birthday date...uh...mines on the 16th too...LOL...
