Ah ok, maybe you could do a similar thing with Gil-Galad for elves?

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

I would actually like to see Galadriel as a regular hero... maybe you could make Galadriel a normal hero and have Gil Galad as the ring-hero (already suggested, just adding my opinions to it)...

I know that this is an incredibly ancient topic, but I must have the last word. Galadrial was NOT the strongest Elf in existance at the time of the WotR. She was, however, tied with Maglor for the title of the most powerful Elf in Middle-Earth. Elrond trailed them closely and just behind him was Glorfindel who was slightly stronger Celeborn (most likely). Finarfin, Olwe, or Ingwe was the most powerful Elf to survive the chaos of the 2nd and 3rd ages. During the Last Alliance, it is likely that Gil-Galad was as great as Celeborn (maybe a bit better or worse) but was probably stronger than Elrond at the time, but it is likely that Elrond gained more power over the other 3000 years of his life. Gil-Galad should NEVER replace Galadrial as a ring hero for a single reason. You cannot ressurect the dead with the ring, only make more dead. And he was dead before Isildur cut the ring from Sauron's hand (he missed seeing this by seconds, as he and Elendil attempted to take on Sauron in a 2-on-1, then Isildur avenged their deaths). Would you suggest Elendil or Isildur as a ring hero? Notice how ressurecting the line of kings wasn't even mentioned ever in FotR, TTT, or RotK.

...and that's why some topics are better left forgotten. Seriously, do you think we didn't know these facts when we brought Isildur and Gil-Galad to WotE as Ring Heroes ? This is a game, not the book. A bit of imagination can solve anything. Let's say, for example, that the One Ring drained a part of Gil-Galad's soul away during the battle vs. Sauron, and this soul piece plus the elven healing magics could restore the great hero and blah blah.

The fact that Glorfindel died in the Silmarillion and made a return during the War of the Ring is also something you should think about. This event actually proves that elves (Noldorin elf lords) have the possibility to return from death.

And besides, many WotE fans came to like the new Ring Heroes, and we won't ruin things by cutting them out like this.

I believe that Glorfindel was meant to be an isolated incident due to his heroism and lack of sins or something. While it is fully possible that Gil-Galad was a similar incident, it is rather unlikely. The Halls of Mandos are hard to escape from. Even if he did... he would have wanted to stay in the Valinor. Gil-Galad AND Glorfindel would have been able to use the one ring, just not as potently as Galadrial, Elrond or Maglor, should they have gotten ahold of it.
Yes, I did edit this as there were some stupid flaws.

He fell of a cliff into "the Abyss" while fighting a Balrog. Glorfindel 's body was then gotten, then buried. My theory is that he fainted (which caused everyone to think that Glorfindel died in the process of destroying the Balrog) and was buried alive and survived all those years, because Elves can only die if killed, maybe even if they grow as old as they are let by the Valar.

@CIL:

While it is fully possible, it is rather unlikely.

...and while it is rather unlikely, it is fully possible :thumbsupsmiley: (duh.) I know what you mean, but while the opportunity exists, there is no problem with him being a Ring Hero, right ? Not to mention the work IthronAiwendil did to raise this guy... but at least you made a good point.

@Ring of Fate:

My theory is that he fainted (which caused everyone to think that Glorfindel died in the process of destroying the Balrog) and was buried alive

I wonder how did he breathe in his grave for centuries :crazed:

And fighting a Balrog, unarmed and alone, then falling into an abyss (really deep hole :crazed:) where "both their bodies were broken" is totally survivable.

I beg to differ, but Glorfindel WAS killed by the Balrog but killed it as well. He went to the Halls of Mandos where Mandos pretty much let him walk on out into Valinor or what not. He then sailed with the Istari on over to Middle-Earth.

It never said he WAS killed, or that he went to the Halls of Mandos. And mike, BROKEN, not destroyed.

And do you know what happens to broken people/things? They die. The injuries suffered were at the hands of the Balrog. Broken could have meant being hit, thrown, slashed, stabbed, etc., but the injuries he sustained were still dealt by the Balrog. And when Elves go to the Halls of Mandos, that means they DIED!
