I finally got round to making a new Centurion that’s the correct size & after two days working on it I think I have what could possible be my best tank voxel to date. I decided to go for an early Mk.5 this time but after adding tons of extra detailing & bits it looks more like an Mk.13 >_> I could have added more stuff to it (& might still yet) but it was starting to look a bit crowded & it was 2am so I stopped. Anyway with the Centurion done I can now make the ARV, Conway & FV 3805 using it’s hull.

PS: I got a good looking Centurion Mk.3 vxl spare if anyone wants it

speaking of the FV 3805, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of one by any chance?
I could only find some where it looks like a pile of scrap in the middle of a junkyard

Almost made a Centurion for rami's... Fairly glad I didn't now, that is, as Lee so aptly put it, pwnsome.
Especially the mud, wonder why my tanks don't have that :)

they were more strict on cleanliness back then? :crazed:

wasn't there an AA centurion too? (a name like "sharpshooter" or something in those lines) I think it wasn't put in service because there were new SAMs that became available, don't know exactly.
just an idea instead of the A27-AA in case it fits the 1945>1955 timeline.

Mig, seriously voxels are great but when will you start actually compensate the top colours for the flat lighting the game has for voxels ? :crazed:

My first post here! Not my first view tough. When I saw the topic title I thought it was a new Centurion Siege Crawler for RS or MO. :crazed: You work is really great, Mad. KUTGW!

Okay... Paint the top layer of Tank & its turret always with lighter colors than the rest of tank as you should have been able to tell ingame wise, less light is reflected from top surfaces of voxels than other directions as the lighting isnt exactly right or how else one does explain the tank sides glowing WAYYY more than tank top? instead of about similar amounts.

My point is, you paint the voxels using exact same colors in every angle which is fine and all if the lighting of voxels was properly done by westwood but it ISN'T..your current way just makes tank top surfaces wayyy too dark and hiding all that nice detail in effect degrading the work. :crazed:

and no do not mistake me, i'm not talking about using wrong normals but that the westwood's normals system has its own flaws you might want to compensate for to maximise the visibility of details while still avoiding cartoony glowyness. :cool2:

The colours I use are specifically set up so they can’t really be made lighter or darker. For example the soviets use a darker version of the allied colours & if I made the allied colours lighter they would be the same as the mud you see on the bottom of the side skirts on the centurion. I don’t have much to work with using the limited unittem.pal :/

Besides I don’t feel that’s it’s a major issue & defiantly not worth redoing every voxel for.

bah I can't find much on it either :cool2:

anyway, here's a pic of a finnish T-55 with a marksman turret just for the sake of curiosity

Posted Image

I'm guessing this system probably appeared sometime after 1955, so it's probably not worth wasting too much time on tbh. :crazed:
