To keep from spamming my retiring topic.

So...who has it? If you have it then what server/class do you use? Discuss.

I'm on snowbourn (European) and have 4 characters:

zimoo - 42 Hunter
Tarangbor - 23 Captain
Breglos - 29 Guardian
Sallie - 8 Burglar

Guardian's my favourite, I just play with zimoo most because I've already done the lower level content and don't fancy re-doing it

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

I tried the beta version(it was free) and I liked it ,although it was going at low framerate(many people trying the game). I was particularly interested in these Middle-earth stories you get involved into(like the departing of the dwarves on there Quest of Erebor). Zimoo, tell me are these played only as single player?

No, there are things called epic books which you play through as you journey through the game. These tend to be more in-line with the storyline we know (meaning they're given by important people basically ). They are all do-able in groups. ATM there is 8 books I believe, each with a different focus. A fair few of them involve things like tracking the nazgul, or teaming up with the suicidal n00b Legolas.

EDIT. Lol, just got defeated while tabbing out to check forums. I knew I should have moved out of the brigand camp ;)

Btw zimoo, have you done any of the Summer Festival missions ? They are little annoying if you ask me  But fireworks rock ;)

They were all within a small radius of the party tree, just run around the area hitting delete (selects nearest item).

I bought LOTRO but unfortunately I play on a different server to you. I haven't played in a while as I'm going to keep on buying game-time cards instead of subscribing. Unluckily i can't actually buy them where I live  . If i remember right my main character is a Race of Man Warrior called Baradhanion or something like that. I think I play on the Gilrain server. Because of my absence from the game, I haven't leveld up very much and i am doing the missions in Bree, but for some reason i am wondering around the shire ?W?T?F?. I also have a Dwarf Guardian, A female Race of Man Captain and an Elven something ;) In fact I think I've filled up all the slots for characters on that server.

Played the Trial/Beta, Got the game, Created a character on snowbourn, Quit after the free-play time with the game ran out. The idea of paying to play the game doesnt appeal to me anymore.

On the character creation screen you can choose your heritage, but aside from giving you a custom title (i.e. Zimoo of Gondor) it doesn't do anything.

Played the beta, but to me it doesn't match up to the fun I have in World of Warcraft.

That's what I keep hearing from my friend.
He said he tried LOTRO and it's nothing compared to WOW. But then agin look at all the expansions it has; and LOTRO was just released not to long ago.
But Blizzard does have a tendacy to update, balance, fix bugs in theirs games really well and really quick.

Right now though, in my opinion, if I were to buy one of them, I'd probably get WOW just for the fact of all the expansion packs and extra crap that comes with it.

But that'd probably change once the LOTRO starts rolling out expansion packs. ;)

The problem with LOTRO in my opinion is that the developers aren't capable of creating a complete MMORPG from existing Tolkien writings, and because of that are forced to make up stories around the events in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. When playing the beta I absolutely hated the quest you had when starting an Elf, because it involved some evil dwarf that destroyed the city. These things, along with graphical errors (black lines around patches of snow, shaky animations and transitions, the slowed-down animation after falling from a great height instead of being crippled etc) were enough to throw me off and just continue World of Warcraft. The universe of Warcraft is built around games and gameplay, while LOTRO is built around a set series of events and writings. I prefer the former, because its in more in favour of original gameplay, and also allows for the very basics. The fact you cant actually die (I think, at least in combat) in LOTRO annoys me, and this was done because people couldn't simply be resurrected in Middle-earth and beyond.

That, and the design of the armour and weaponry which I seriously question.

All the expansion packs? There is only 1... As far as i know so far.

I agree with the people who say WoW is better than Lotro... But i wont go back to either of them ;)

another expansion is coming out. then another every 6 months.

agree with you FlameGuard, I won't go back to either of them. I finally quit WOW, played LOTRO beta and had to quit that. didn't want to get attached to that.

WoW is going to have a expansion pack released every 6months? That is just insane... Just add whatever they want in to one expansion pack...
