Well....i always thought the raiders should get a bow/sword toggle. Maybe you could do that with the Uruk-Hai of Orthanc, since they already use Lurtz's anims?

I hope not. If you saw the movie, Uruk Raiders only wielded swords, axes and other melee weapons. Besides, too mny mods have done overkill on toggle guys alrdy.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

I can't really recall the Uruks using bows either... besides the Crossbows and Lurtz's bow?

If you check some of the running-along-the-Anduin shots I believe you will see a bunch of Uruks that have quivers and bows slung over their backs.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

And, if you think about it, it would make sense for the uruks to have hunters in their ranks.

Nah I prefer cute little rabbits being smashed down by a Giant Catapult or eaten by a Black Uruk of Barad-Dûr.

That's a pretty cool suggestion... I wonder if that's possible.. it should be if it was done in BFME1. Allthough it might remove all animals from a map in no time... But I'll think about it and talk to Sul =)

Do all factions really need a spammable unit? It would seem pretty out of place with both the Elves and the Dwarves.

For Uruks, I would say leave the Tier 1 Uruk Raiders as is, but at level 2 give them the option to purchase a Bow Toggle (and become Uruk Hunters-not eligible for Heavy Armor) or to go the Heavy Armor route and become Swordsmen (trading some speed). Either make that the path to getting Uruk Swordsmen or make them a little better tran the trainable Uruk Swordsmen.

I don't believe in "Early Game Units" and so forth. That's the main drawback of Dawn of War...once you upgrade your barracks to Tier 2 the Tier 1 units become obsolete and there's little to no reason to build them anymore.

There should still be a reason to build Uruk Raiders once you upgrade your Uruk Pit.

I like the idea of post #52. Kind of like a tech tree. It would be fun to use :D

Uruks raiders rock, and can be used as defensive. Uruk-hai are great offensive.

I don't think Isengard should have spam, but Elves should.

I just read this thread from the beginning... and I think most of you have missunderstood my intention with "spam" units... Let's call them "defence" units intstead then...

What I am saying is:
All factions should have some unit that are
- cheap,
- fast to recruit, and
- well suited as early game defence (and late too for that matter when you have all strong units at the front line). And by well suited I mean cheap and fast. Like the Hobbits for Elves for instance. Hobbits shold not be army units but defence/support units, and so is the intention with corresponding units in other factions.

For this I still think snaga orcs would fit best for Isengard, and maybe the coolest thing would be to use those snaga workers chopping trees, and make them into a horde of 20 units, and limit them to say 2 hordes. Cheap, fast recruitable, but weak. All Elite, Support and "Spam/Defence/Early Game" units should be limited so we keep all factions concentrated on the race they represent... and keep those units good for those reasons ^

Snaga Orcs are good.

But I still think we should Keep the Uruk Raiders where they are. They are Scouts, and they are based off of the first Uruks Sarumon made. What if they were limited to say 4 hordes and they were weak, fast. Does that work?

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

In my opinion the raiders are already perfected in the game. They have no upgrades and less health.(Therefore they are weaker then the other Uruks).

And they are PERFECT when you're attacking an enemy base, your army has been destroyed, and you have just a few buildings left to take down.

My only thought is that maybe they could be spawned a bit faster..

Though I don't personally agree with making Isengard have some cheap "defensive" (spammable) Uruk-Raider when they should be fast heavy-hitters, a late patch for rotwk (or bfme2) made Uruk swordsmen cost 400, take up 75 command points, have a smaller horde and slow build-times. Isengard was liable to a rush so a defensive unit is needed.

Shouldn't the isangard scouts have the weapon toggle ability ? cause in the movie and according to their unit nature , a scout definitely needs both bows and a melle weapon.
