Mount and Blade

What is mount and blade? I'd describe it as an firstthirdpersonactionslashershooterrpglitertsthingy
Essenitally it's a medieval combat simulator. You can pretty much fulfil any role you can think of. Heavy infantryman with an 2 handed axe, spear and shield? Yup... Armoured knight with a lance and sword? Yup.. Peasant with a club, pitchfork and stones? Yup. Ranger with a sword and bow? Yup. An assassin with a crossbow and scary black hood? yup A horse archer? Yup...
Plus you lead a group of men for one of 5 factions (used to be 2 until this latest version) at least... in Vanilla you do. But I'll get onto mods in a minute.
The game IS a WIP. There is a demo, lets you get up to level 6. There are bugs and unfinished features... but it's still damn cool. And every version adds a huge amount.. this latest version changed the nature of the game entirely (with players owning villages and adding loads of new factions) as well as adding a new improved formation system for your troops and shiny things like Ragdoll physics... (For those cool moments when you shoot that guy off the wall)
So.. onto a few screenshots of native gameplay. (Trying to find ones with decent graphics heh)
Soooo that gives you an idea of Vanilla gameplay.. onto the mods... now many of these are still being ported to the new version.. but this gives you a good idea of the variety..
Be aware I'm only scratching the surface here (couldn't post any pictures of the Pirates! mod with full ship combat, pistols and parrots) ... but drop on over to the site, join us fans on the forums... and stab a river pirate with a 2 handed

As I said... brilliant. Should have been in vanilla.
Oo and one thing... latest version (being slightly unstable) may only be in the forum.

@2play: I think not. Savegames are stored locally, which would allow a lot of cheating in a MMO.
Savegames from older versions will not work with version 0.808. If you want to restore your character from an old version, load your character with the old version, and from character window->statistics menu, export your character. You can then create a character with the same name and use the import function to import him to the new game.

Make sure you download 0.892 .. it's infinitley better (Though 0.808 is needed for most mods released ATM)
Cahik... graphics look great on full graphics... but I'd rather thave up to 200 men on the battlefield than shadows and stuff. Try playing on lower damage or somthing Or as a different character type..

That mod Dain points out is so much fun. Picking off invaders while they cross the bridge from their siege tower to your walls, and when you run out of arrows (which is a GREAT feature I think) you just charge in with your axe 'n shield. Epic.

I've been playing 0.892 in some of my spare time, great fun though I think I actually preferred 0.808 with TLD.
I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.
