He uses that word democracy, but I think it means about what it means in Pakistan. You can vote for president, as long as you're voting for the right person.Chavez insists the reforms are meant to deepen democracy and give Venezuelans more of a voice government, especially through neighborhood-based "communal" councils.

That part sounds fair.
Now, we all know the way he manipulate his armies and the massive use of populism to twist the results of these elections and referendums.

Slowly?! This might be the fastest change from democracy to dictator I've seen in my lifetime. Nothing a precisely fired bullet to the head can't cure.Good lord. he's slowly turning into a dictator if he gets it his way...

I don't know about that. Calling anyone that doesn't vote for his changes to allow himself to be president for life a traitor seems a little less than democratic to me.It is just as democratic as France or even England. The same person can be re-elected indefinitely. But, in the middle of his mandate, you can also kick him with a referendum where people choose if he stays or not.
That part sounds fair.

What I said is that allowing a president to be re-elected for life and having a referendum to keep it or not in the middle of the time are democratic things, where the first one (unlimited re-election) is applied on other countries as well. However, Chavez behaviour is not democratic at all. He is a populist dictator.I don't know about that. on the topic of Chavez losing that vote. good enough, but he'll probably try again. hopefully he won't be able to brainwash way too many more people in that time.

Yeah, but in the end the price paid will really take it's toll don't you think?A rebellion is still better than letting an authoritarian government walk right over you and take your freedoms.
