I would say keep it in, but if it comes down to it, go ahead and get rid of it.

>_> Just release a patch of the mod with CaH beforehand if you do. That way if it does get axed, people can still play a later version of the mod if they want to keep CaH.

EDIT: Also, if you do release a patch before you decide to axe CaH, can you give MotE skirmish AI?

I think option 2 is good for the beginning, getting rid of some stuff that has newer been used ( damn, though i like CaH, to creaty my alter ego in the game, there was just too little option in it - though i couldn wait that itll be MMoRPG :thumbsupsmiley: well there was newer a possibility to get Uruk Hai Shaman soo i dont care )

Just delete it, as whole as it is, at least you can speed up with the mod then, for you will have a lot of free place to use
"Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world."
"From this seal shall arise the doom of men,"
"who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own."
"Blindly they build their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit."
"Now they shall be consumed by the very flame they sought to control."
"Let the echoes of doom resound across this wretched world, that all who live may hear them and despair."

"Tremble, mortals, and despair! Doom has come to this world!"

I would say get rid of it completely as you can make heros who are utterly ridiculous and that didn't even exist, its a pretty terrible feature that brings the level of the game down a lot

now wait a sec. " heroes that didnt evne exist " , thats the point of the CaH, the only diferent thing between heroes and normal units is that heroes are just " known ". Look for example, you could be gondor swordmaster - best of the whole ( lets say you live in Minihiriath ) citi, no one can ever defeat you there, but you are not famouse that much, you are such " silent type " who doesnt like much attention. But your skills would make a hero of you easilly. And thats kinda the point, to piont out such " heroes " ( CaH ), that could possibly be
"Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world."
"From this seal shall arise the doom of men,"
"who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own."
"Blindly they build their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit."
"Now they shall be consumed by the very flame they sought to control."

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Please (sits on knees in front of PC) I'm begging you don't remove the CaH's from your mod. I love CaH I even rework my CaH's so I can have elves in Mordor or Goblins in Gondor. Also could you make it possible to use a CaH in the MotE faction. I love MotE, I've loved them since I first saw them in the movie and read about them in the books.

It's your decision Oh fearless leader. :-)

I wouldn't worry about that if I were you because I don't think that Rob is going to axe CaH if only 50% of the people want it out :p . I believe that there would have to be a large amount of votes in one place before Rob would make a final decision. Of course I could, and probably will, be wrong.

I'm shocked that so many people hate CaH. If it gets in the way of other things, don't change it, leave it the way it is, don't remove it. However, if you want to improve it, please do. :thumbsupsmiley:

Edit: I haven't got ROTWK and therefore not this mod yet, so is the default CaH thing in the current mod, or is this about putting it in? If it still has the default CaH thing, I can still download older versions with CaH if it gets completely nerfed right?

Well, if you don't have RotwK, you can't really experience how imba they are. They can cost like 3000 and take down something worth like 10000.

now im going to be rude, and many people gonna hate me again but, i just cant sit here and say nothing :

Thanks to your close mindness, the whole project is tremediously slowed down, . . . " buee buee dont axe CaH i love it, i changed it, i whatever else. . . ! DAMN ! WHAT THE HELL ? i TOO have a very fawourited hero of mine - though not tasked in the system to change something about him - but thats the choice of the which we can go : Either the path of progress, advancement and creation, or the path to nothing more then the " good old things " where nothing changes and all stays the " safe " way.

call me whatever names you want ( im used to it ), but i wont back off from this one:
I want to see this mode complete ! no matter what sacrifcies of the old game content must be done, BUT if that will speed up the whole thing at least a bit, you have my full support. Unlike some other dudes, i want to have a GREAT mode, with NEW stuff to mess around, not just some " improvements " and most of the original game beeing kept in.

As i said, call me whatever you want, or think of this post as " flame on " if you like - though im pretty cooled down right now, but its up to you to decide, i care little of what you think.

As for me i will not back off from this one :thumbsupsmiley:
"Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world."
"From this seal shall arise the doom of men,"
"who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own."
"Blindly they build their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit."

To be honest, I just don't understand how leaving something in that is already in the game can hinder progress of everything you're adding to it

As Rob said, Create-a-heroes takes up a lot of upgrades in the game, and unfortunately there is only a set amount of upgrades you can have in the game. With so many being taken up by the novelty of the create-a-heroes, the modders are in a dilemnia as to whether they should:
  • Leave them and hope that they don't hit the limit, or, if they do, try and prune the stuff they've made.
  • Get rid of create-a-heroes altogether to free up lots of spaces for upgrades.
  • Trim the create-a-heroes so they are reduced but still present and free up some upgrade space.

I'm probably not the best person to explain this, because coding is not my forte, but I can explain it in simple terms. In order for Rob to be able to add new things to the game, he must be able to add upgrades. CAH uses up a lot of these upgrades, and there may come a time when we start to run out. This topic was simply to decide how much people would miss CAH if it was removed. I think it seems fairly obvious that, whilst there are some people like myself who would be happy to see it gone, there are others who like the feature, and we want to cater for everyone, so it will not be removed, unless there comes a time when it is the only option.

Edit: Arg puppeteer, you beat me to posting. Still got a nice thorough explanation there from the both of us...

I don't know what's being used, but...

Use common upgrades... like..

Upgrade_HeroLevel1
Upgrade_HeroLeve2
ect...

Upgrade_UnitLevel1
Upgrade_UnitLevel2

or, you could even just use one...

Upgrade_XLevel1
Upgrade_XLeve2

I wish I could change my vote from "Keeping it in" to 'Axing CAH's altogether". My reasoning for my original vote was stupid.... Besides, all I used CAH for was to build heroes like Radagast and the Blue Wizards, so there really is no point in CAH for me anymore.

And the reason that I would like to change my vote is for the reasons that Shikari and puppeteer stated.

Sorry, to bother you all with my regrets :thumbsupsmiley: .

Ok, thanks Puppeteer and Shikari for the explanations :thumbsupsmiley: Although CaH was one of my favourite features of BFME2, I would certainly like to see the merged RJ-ROTWK campaign finished  However my opinion that CaH should stay still stands (although it says I'm not allowed to vote, is this because I signed up just today?).

It isn't as if you can't still play a custom hero even if it gets axed--you just have to play the unmodded version of the game, or BFME II proper.

Please watch the language, Myrdin.
I'd say axe it alltogether..takes up space that could be used by better things IMO. Though, it is kinda cool to make characters from the books :thumbsupsmiley:
Actually...if you really want Create-a-Heroes, then why not just make them on the vanilla edition? Sure, you can't use them in Rj, but it'd solve our problems.
Cheers,
-mike
